My second purchase
I've used the lumma disc for three years. I originally bought it from the main site but it was by far cheaper through Amazon this time around. This truly is a great product and I'm never going back to tampons and pads. I did boil it for a few secs as instructed when you first receive it before use. I use soapy water n toy cleaner or peroxide to clean it. I tried to boil it once as a way to clean it and I felt like it would wear faster by cleaning it this way. Idk if it's true just my opinion. Etheir way mine never stained or obtain a smell at any point so I'm happy. Another fear I had when I first bought it lol will it slip out. No it never slips out. (And don't freak out if you wear it during sex it takes about a hour for your ceverix to move lower so you can get it out. When your aroused it moves up high) Right about at the three year mark I noticed a small hole below the rim forming n tossed it. I've always had a heavy flow where super plus just wasn't good enough. The disc allows me to not worry as much through those first 2 days of hell. I've also noticed I no longer occasionally get infections toward the end. It took me about two months to know when I might need to dump it if it gets too full before needing to actually used the restroom. I still use a ultra thin pad for the first day as a just encase. Maybe in time I might let that fear go idk. Lol for anyone considering to try it id say to go for it but go in with a grain of salt in your thinking. Bc we are all different n I don't think we'll ever get a design that allows us to never occasionally get our hands dirty. But I feel like this product has made that time of the month more bearable to endure. I can not express enough how nice it is to leave the house and not have to carry 10 tampons and two pads since I'll be gone all day. Or dread working on that first day worried my boss might complain how often I use the restroom. And allowing that occasional infection towards the end to make me feel like I'm not doing something right bc in the last three years it's been nonexistent.

Edit: I thought this was my one
Edit: I was so excited and this worked ok for the end of my period it was the only disc that I didn't have to fight with go get in but now that I started a new cycle I'm starting to think it's not I'm not sure why this is happening because I was pretty sure it was the one. However it is now giving me monster cramps and is not holding more than an hour then leaking. I know it is the right size because I also bought some obscure off brand that is just barely bigger than this and it fits perfectly. I think what is happening is because the bowl part of it is too soft and folds up super easy and I think my cervix is dropping into it and the ring around it is pressing on my cervix. If you got the small and this is happening the one that I got that is perfect is almost identical to the small saalt disc. I think I just needed that grove to hold it off my cervix because holy wow the cramps from this in the beginning of a cycle Original: I've tried so many discs and I was to the point where I thought I was going to have to give up and use cups and dump them every couple hours. I have a heavy flow but an extremely low cervix like almost alarmingly low I've had 3 kids and I'm assuming that's probably why. Cups have always sat wierd with me but sinse my last baby I cant use the small cups because they leak and I cant use the large cups because they sat so low that the bottom of the cup itself not the stem the actual cup would stick out when I used the restroom. This actually put pressure and would stop the flow and I would have to take it out to urinate. The disposable discs worked ok but I think it was because they were so stiff that it was way jammed in there, to the point of not auto dumping. I started off with Ziggy which was way way too big, it is about the same size as the disposable but too soft and wouldn't stay so I went for stiffer and smaller and it would auto dump but would actually come partially out pinched and block the urine flow and it never went back on its own I had to retuck. So I went smaller and softer and this caused a lot of leaking during intimacy and on my heavy flow days. So I found this the lumma short is the smallest one I could find and it was awesome when I put it in because it is stiff enough that I didn't need lube and went right under my cervix no fight so far I haven't had any leaks. And it is so comfortable it is nice to have a disc that doesn't push on my bladder or block pee. Or pinch my urethra. I am going to give t a couple months and if it still works this wonderfully I am going to buy another one.

An excellent alternative to tampons
Edit- I'm still using this monthly, but the pull string part is starting to get little tears in it. I worry about those trapping bacteria. I guess it's normal wear and tear, but I'd hoped I'd get a bit more use than this out of it before I had to replace it. In hindsight I'd get a dark color too because the blood staining is a PITA to deal with! I got this after having great success with soft discs but wanting something reusable and with a stem to help with removal. This works almost as well as those did for me, but I wish the cup part was thinner & more flexible, and the rim more rigid. I think because this is overall more rigid with a floppier rim it makes it leak when I'm going to the bathroom (self-emptying they call it, I don't like that because I have to wear a pantyliner because of the blood residue throughout the day), which I did not experience with the soft disc. It is also harder to insert with how bulky the cup material is. I really like that it has a stem though, it makes removal so much easier than trying to catch the rim, and I have had no leaks aside from when going to the bathroom. I LOVEEEE that I only have to mess with this twice a day & that I can pee without worrying about a soggy string! After having zero success with diva cup style cups that require suction to seal, I think I am a permanent convert to menstrual discs! Pro tip: after boiling to sanitize, soak the disc in a cup with a couple of denture tabs to get stains out.

Low Cervix model-Too flimsy
This was the first disc I tried, and for many reasons it worked, but there were a few personal issues I had. -Silicon is too soft. It makes the disc flimsy and harder to expand after insertion. It's messy during removal because when it goes through the canal, it just collapses and leaks. - Disc diameter is too small. I ordered the low cervix model, so I knew it would be smaller, but it couldn't even stay in the fornix area, it would just tilt out throughout the day. The product is great, but these are just issues I ran into personally. It's easy to use, it's comfortable, and easy to remove. Just wish it was more firm and slightly wider.

Doesn’t hurt and mess free sex!
I’m fairly new to menstrual discs and first tried the disposable flex disc (by flex). I had no leakage but it gave me AWFUL cramps and I don’t normally get cramps. My guy could also feel it and it hurt me during intercourse (not enough to stop but it just felt like pressure/cramping). Ultimately I felt the plastic ring was too hard and the disc itself was too big. I found this and thought it could solve both problems - I was right! I’m a petite woman with a relatively high cervix. I ordered the M and L (high). The medium arrive first and I have it a whirl yesterday. No leaks, no cramps, painless intercourse - and he couldn’t even feel it. Mess free and still fun. I’m SO happy. Today is day too and I’ve just been washing it every 12 hours. It made me nervous seeing that it self-empties when I use the bathroom but it actually makes it way more convenient. You don’t have to take it out to dump it (and get fingers all messy). Just have to do it when your 12 hours is up to make sure it’s completely emptied and cleaned. I hope it continues to go well as I’m so over tampons!

I want less expensive periods!
I am super excited about this product. I HATE needing to buy tampons and pads. What other occurance in life makes such a mess once every month that needs special equipment to deal with, or face the public humiliation of a red stain for the world to see, and clothes that are now ruined? Like, you go about your life happy as a clam for 3/4ths of the month, then BAM! It all changes in one night. If I can reduce the cost of my period, and reduce the chances of an emergency situation, it's a no brainer to do so. I've also tried cups before, and it was painful. I got the diva cup. I tried it for 2 cycles. It was ok at first, but something happened when I tried it for a second cycle. I think the suction literally pulled down on my cervix and clammped on. My cervix usually sits rather high and I can't even find it most of the time. That day I used the deva cup was the worst pain I ever felt. It was ok at first, but then the pain began to build. I figured it was regular cramps. But as the minutes passed, the pain was getting worse until I felt it in my stomach all the way to my spine. I was actually whimpering and doubled over crying as I tried to get this torture device out of me. As I loosened the suction, I heard a squelch sound and the cup came loose. When I removed it, I was shocked to find my cervix had migrated to the front of my vagina. I could feel it only using the length of my fingernail. 30 min later, the pain receded and my cervix was back up high where I couldn't find it. I was so, so stupid and tried the cup again with the exact same results. Ever since then, I get impossibly painful periods. I'm actually afraid of the pain when my period comes and I immediately take Tylenol when I see the blood begin. This was 3 years ago. BUT I WANT LESS EXPENSIVE AND MESSY PERIODS! so, I learned about menstrual disks. They don't use suction. I've tried this disk for 2 cycles. Only at home though (I'm still fearful about things going horribly wrong). So far so good. I like the string attachment. I just tuck it under the disk until I want to remove, then I fish it out for easy access. It makes a mess when removing, but I take care of it in the shower so not that big of a deal. I am praying hard that this works out. I'll still keep pads on hand, but my hope is to buy less of them and have the most convenient periods I could hope for.

Major leakage issue for me...
Perhaps it's just the shape of my internals, having a rather low and angled cervix, (and the first few days of my moon the cervix drops even more,..) but this did not work for me in the slightest... Constantly leaked through, had to wear pads, and even leaked through those, as if it made it worse than just free bleeding somehow. It's honestly been highly stressful each moon since deciding to try it out. I gave it three tries. With all the positive reviews, I was really hoping it would work for me, like it has for so many others, but alas... I have already gone back to the cup, and will never try a disc again,... so much blood man, never felt safe or comfortable, and the constant worry and stress of leakage was really taking a toll on my psyche. The disc top seemed firm enough, but the cup felt too flexible, it never plumped out at all for me, just stayed crumpled up.. no matter how hard I tried to help it,.. again, perhaps it's just because of my shape,.. or I got a faulty one,.. or, it just sucks. I am bummed, and feel like I waisted my money, as the window for return has long since passed. So, if you have an angled cervix that drops, and endo that causes excess inflammation, maybe go with the cup instead. 😉

Absolutely Life-Changing!
This genuinely changed my life. I'm actually excited for my next period because it's so novel and fun to be able to do things again! I have the Paragard IUD (and love it), but my periods are really heavy and got dramatically heavier in my 30s. A cup isn't an option due to the suction with my IUD, and specialty heavy-duty tampons, pads, and Thinx panties were not cutting it anymore. At best I could get 40-45 minutes before massively bleeding through my clothes and whatever I was sitting on - which isn't exactly tenable if you need to do literally anything other than sit in your house with a timer going. I had a three-day work conference, 9+ hours a day, and had NO IDEA how I was going to manage it needing to leave every 30 minutes. I finally sent a message to my doctor asking how many tampons I could safely use at once, and she wrote back and recommended trying a disc. I was dubious because I'd tried the disposable SoftDiscs before and found them really uncomfortable and ineffective, but I felt like I was out of options. Enter the Lumma: I slept on crisp white hotel sheets every night, sat through hours of meetings, took the hotel stairs regularly and walked several miles every night exploring the city I was in, and didn't accidentally bleed on a single thing even once. Not ONCE. LIFE-CHANGING. There is no suction, so it felt really safe with my IUD, which was a high priority for me. Once it was in I couldn't feel it at all. I'm not sure if this was related to the disc or just a weird month, but while using it, I had fewer spikes of really intense cramps and more of a low-level ache than I'm used to (honestly hoping it is related - I'd take 3/10 pain for a couple hours over 10/10 pain randomly throughout the day). I can't recommend this enough; I feel like it's opened so many doors for me to be able to do things on my period again without fear! Plus it's cute - I love the tie-dye look. The only con I can possibly think of is that a small part of me is tempted to try to measure how much I actually bleed now that I'm literally collecting it in a cup. Have resisted the urge so far...
