Exactly what I was looking for
This Zwave thermostat synced beautifully to my smart system. I bought another for another property that I own. Love them.

Great Z-wave thermostat for use with HomeSeer (see details). Recommended
I fully automated my last house, and I used Trane TZ400BB3VZNNSL thermostats for all of my HVAC units. This time around, I still wanted to use Z-wave. The idea was to get a slightly better looking thermostat, get better capabilities (humidity sensor, 700 series, etc.), and not break the bank with the unit cost (I have 3 HVAC units at this house). At $90, how is the experience?I guess it starts with installation. My task was to replace an ANCIENT White-Rodgers 1F58-72 with the 2Gig unit. The HVAC system in question is a heat pump with heat strips as emergency heat. I took a picture of the wireup of the old thermostat, just in case I needed to revert, and I looked up the old thermostat's manual. I was MOSTLY able to figure out the new wiring, but I did guess on the heat strip hookup. Hard setup consists of two screws into the wall, and screwing your multi-conductor control harness into a terminal block. The thermostat snaps into place with 4 tabs. I am not using battery powered operation for this thermostat (though I will be for one of the other locations).Soft setup consists of putting the thermostat into setup mode. There I specified that I had a heat pump. I also had to change the default setting for my reverser valve. I performed secure Z-wave inclusion without any issues (I have a Zooz ZST10 on an SFF PC running Homeseer). I think it shows up as 8 devices with 12 readings. The only part I don't really like is that the Fan State doesn't show as on when the "Operating State" is Heating or Cooling. It's certainly not a big deal, but it does make the damper programming a little more complicated for me.As for the operation, I couldn't be happier. The thermostat works great as a Z-wave repeater, though that functionality only works if you are running the thing with line power. Status updates are fast, and I now have a more reliable network route to my front door sconce switch. There are plenty of wifi thermostat options out there, and most of them do pretty cool things, but I'm not interested in adding any device that relies on cloud services for local integration/automation (unless there aren't ANY locally-running alternatives). This fits the bill nicely. Recommended

Decent product
This is not a programmable thermostat. You need a z-wave controller where you will write you automation schedule. Works great for that. There is a user manual that explains how to setup and adjust temp differentials. One of the few z-wave thermostats out there. The buttons are funky, you just have to lightly touch them, not press like a real button. It would be nice if it had auto brighten so can see screen without touching it.I use via Homeseer. Works well.

No manual, No support
Reviewing 2GIG-STZ-1I have another 2Gig Zwave thermostat and it works great. I think that one is an ST-101.This one may work fine but It comes only with a quick start guide, no manual. It is easy enough to connect. It was easy to Join to my Zwave system. After installation, I set my heat set to 70 degrees F. The heat doesn't come on till the actual temperature reads 68 degrees on the thermostat. The Heat doesn't go off again till the temperature on the thermostat reads 72 degrees. That's a 4 degree swing. Usually this can be adjusted with a heat anticipator setting. There is no such setting that I can find either in the physical interface or through the Zwave settings. There may be a setting for this in one of the parameters but they are not documented in the quick start guide.I visited 2GIGs website and found they will not provide a manual unless you are a dealer or authorized installer.I sent an email to the email address specified on the web site, but it isn't valid. There is a phone number listed in the quick start guide which I haven't tried yet because I work during the day.Unless they provide basic documentation or better support, I would look elsewhere for a Zwave thermostat.

Obsolete Version of this thermostat
This version does not support smart start. There's a newer version that does. And I've had difficulty getting this version to pair properly with network-wide-inclusion, suggesting it might be an old enough z-wave chip that you have to be within a foot or two of the controller. That's a problem for a hard-wired thermostat in an era when controllers no longer support a battery-backed mobile inclusion mechanism. Pretty much all modern controllers assume network wide inclusion. I recommend avoiding this older version of the 2GIG-STZ1. I have no problems with the more modern one. Look for a reference to smart-start in the item description.

Works as it should
I have had this thermostat for 6 years and it has worked great as a Zwave thermostat integrated with Alarm.com.

Very poorly documentation
I have this thermostat in my brand new apartment and I see NOTHING that is programmable about it. The manual’s reference to “Z-Wave” as a way to control it is utterly useless, as are the apps available which are apparently used by almost no one, and rated very poorly for obvious reasons. For all practical purposes this is a MANUAL thermostat.
