The spoon is quite light, but very sturdy. The handle fits into my palm and is narrow enough not to hurt my palm when stirring large pots of heavy beans, etc. The flattened spoon tip is great for getting into the pot corners and scraping 'sticking' beans, rice, etc. from the bottom of the pan. The handle length allows me to easily stir an 8 quart pan, without getting too close to the beans, etc. The surface of the spoon and handle is slightly textured and not real shiny. But, this works well! It keeps the spoon handle from getting so slippery when stirring a steaming, simmering or boiling pot of beans, etc. The color is not exactly what I would expect a stainless steel spoon to be. It is slightly 'off' silver, but it works so well that I really don't mind. It has been totally dishwasher safe with no discoloration to its surface. It is just a Great Spoon!
