I followed the directions, I shampooed in the shower, rinsed thoroughly, wrung my hair out well, and even stepped out of the tub to towel dry it a bit more. The top was still slightly lighter, and it didn’t affect my roots much the first time, but I could already see an improvement. Two days later, I applied it again, this time focusing on my roots and the top of my head. I used a different conditioner on the bottom since that part was already dark. My hair color is all over the place from years of dying and natural lightening from the sun. This color mask darkened the lightened-dried out ends, while maintaining my naturally brown roots on top.
