Clairol Professional Shimmer Lights Purple Shampoo

What surprised you? I was pleasantly surprised that it toned down the brassiness without making my hair feel dry or brittle. Many purple shampoos I’ve tried leave my hair feeling rough, but this one didn’t. Is it worth the money? Yes! A little goes a long way, so the bottle lasts a while. It’s a great value compared to more expensive salon brands. Who would you recommend it for? I would recommend it to anyone with blonde, highlighted, silver, or gray hair who wants to maintain a cooler tone between salon visits. How has it held up after weeks or months? After using it consistently once or twice a week, I’ve noticed my blonde stays brighter and less brassy. It continues to work well without weighing my hair down. Pros: * Effectively reduces yellow and orange tones * Doesn’t leave my hair feeling overly dry * Pleasant scent * A little product goes a long way * Easy to incorporate into my regular hair routine Cons: * If left on too long, it can leave a slight purple tint on very light blonde hair, so be sure to follow the directions. Overall, I’m very happy with this shampoo and will continue purchasing it to keep my color looking fresh.

I bought this for my blonde wigs and it works wonderfully! The color is not brassy, it keeps my wigs shiny and natural looking, it moisturizes my units and the price was right.

Granny couldn't remember the name of the purple shampoo I bought her and couldn't find it in the store so we shipped some shimmer lights to Granny. Previously licensed Cosmetology Instructor here, I used Shimmer Lights 30+ years ago on my own hair, and there is no product that does the job this does to eliminate brassiness and brighten very light blonde to white hair. Granny has been using Shimmer Lights off and on for the same 30+ years as she has had white hair for that same time. It does really make her white hair shimmer. She's such a cutie at 95 but I don't have permission to post her picture here as proof. Just know that if your 95 years young Granny (or Pappy) need a purple shampoo, this one's the one.

I’ve tried several purple shampoos, and for the price I’m pretty impressed with this one. I have blonde hair that tends to get brassy and yellow between appointments, and I can definitely tell a difference after using it. It helps tone down the yellow and leaves my blonde looking brighter and a little more icy. Another big plus for me is that it doesn’t leave my hair feeling dried out like some purple shampoos I’ve used. My hair still feels good afterward, which is important since blonde hair can already be prone to dryness. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the smell. I personally don’t care for the scent at all. Thankfully, the results make up for it enough that I’ll continue using it. For the price, it does exactly what I bought it to do: cuts the brassiness, brightens my blonde, and doesn’t dry out my hair. If the scent were better, this would easily be 5 stars for me.

I have faithfully used this shampoo along with its counterpart conditioner (Clairol Shimmer Lights Blonde Toning Conditioner) for the past several years. I also use the Clairol Shimmer Lights Blonde Toning Mask, but I only use it once every 2-3 weeks, as overuse will leave a purple tint on blonde strands. This shampoo tones beautifully, and leaves a very natural blonde shade once your hair is dry. I do leave the shampoo on my hair, sudsed up, for approximately 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing until the water runs clear. I also leave the conditioner in my hair for approximately five minutes. By doing this, it helps tone the hair and remove all the brassiness from your locks. It lathers beautifully and cleans well. I will never switch brands of shampoo. It is slightly fragrant, but not overly, and has a very pleasant scent. I am subscribed to this product monthly, although that’s really overdoing it. I often skip orders because the shampoo will last for quite a while; a little goes a long way. For reference, I am naturally a medium shade brunette, but I add blonde highlights to my hair every 5-6 weeks. If you are a blonde or silver fox in search of your perfect hair shade and who wants to fight brassiness, give this shampoo a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed. It looks exactly like the picture I used it for my wig I do say you get exactly what you paid for it’s medium not to thick not to runny it ain’t works very affective
