Before even getting in the river, we hooked up his lead to one of the hooks and the vest immediately tore. The poor dog was dumped into the river twice and once jumped out in the rapids, so we used the drag handle quite a bit. The dog was fine, but the tear is now the full length of the handle. Good thing we are never taking him on the river again. We could still use it for a lake, but the fact that it tore right away is just frustrating.

For use a couple times a year, this is a great product. If my dog was in or around water more often, I'd pay more for the Kurgo or Ruffwear life vest. We were not sure how our dog would take to wearing a life vest, and water activities. As such, we didn't want to spend $50-80 on a higher quality life vest. This vest worked well. The fit of the vest was ok given the cost. I would recommend it for occasional use, but would like a vest with better fit (and probably higher quality) if my dog used it more often.Here are my comments on fitment:* There are only two straps underneath and I think it creates a bit of a pressure point when in the water. I'd like the underside to have more straps or have them wider apart.* The foam was a little thick on the Medium size. I had to massage the vest to get it to wrap around his body, otherwise it was a little too rigid.* Measurement-wise my dog was a medium, but he required the vest adjusted almost as tight as it would go. The small size life vest's straps and neck part might have fit him better, but the small would not have been long enough for his body. This might be more due to my dog's physique than the life vest.Overall, I still recommend it, especially as a first time product to see if you dog will use a life vest and play in the water.

Got 2 of these cute little jackets to make it easier on our little Bostons when we take them to the dog Beach, or on the boat. They aren't very fond of swimming in the ocean, but with these jackets on, they definitely have a much easier time keeping their heads above water. They are extremely bright and make me feel much more secure about my dogs safety. I have yet to test the water activated strobe lights that came with the jackets, but was glad they were included. The price was right on these, and they fit our pups as expected. If you're looking for a doggy life vest. Look no further!

These are very well made, affordable jackets. I have RuffWear jackets for my dogs on my Ocean cruising boat but thought I would try a more affordable (and lighter weight) option for the lake.I bought 2 extra smalls for my 10 and 12 pound Chihuahuas. I doubt that these would work on a very tiny dog. They fit the Chi's great!The handle opening could be wider though. I can fit (snugly) only 3 fingers through it. It would be a minor sewing adjustment to open up the grip for larger hands.I also bought 2 Extra Large for my 90 and 100 lb Rhodesian Ridgebacks, The packaging says they have 2 handles due to the weight when lifting a BIG dog out of the water...BUT...only one handle on jacket. The extra handle would have been VERY helpful.The packaging also says that there is a,"removable" chin float but I have no idea what this is referring to. No removable parts that I could find.The only other,"wish" on this otherwise nicely constructed jacket is the color choice. NONE. The yellow is great BUT....with 4 dogs I would have liked to be able to quickly ID whose vest is whose and which dog has fallen overboard.I have not yet taken them out on the lake but will update this review when I have had a chance to test the performance in the water.

Purchased the XL for my dog. Used it for my dogs first outing on the boat and grabbed him by the handle because he was about to jump overboard and the ballistic nylon tore. I would imagine if he were actually in the water and wet that the entire handle would have torn off. The nylon should at least be reinforced around the handle.

the nylon ripped, I don't like leaving bad reviews, but we used the product 4 times, it has a great handle, safety light and hooks.but the nylon ripping is just bad

Very disappointed. Put this jacket on my boxer mix, pulled on the handle to test the fit and make sure the jacket was secure. The material around the handle tore immediately. I can't trust that the handle I would use to pull my dog from the water is secure.

Exactly what we expected. Fits well and dog loves it.
