I am very satisfied with my purchase of the Kitchen Gizmo electric water kettle. It offers quality and style at a ridiculously low price on Amazon. The deep-hued blue color of the kettle is beautiful and the entire unit feels solid and well crafted. Water heats super fast and the lid stays put when pouring and will not pop open until you press the lid release button. My last purchase of an electric water kettle was one I bought at our local Walmart that was similarly priced, but the Kitchen Gizmo water kettle is superior at every level. The Walmart kettle auto-off switch broke on day 2 and the unit started to rust after a couple of weeks of light use. The Kitchen Gizmo is everything I wanted in a water kettle and mroe

Nothing plastic touches the water. Super fast boil.
I love, love, love, my new kettle. I researched these for months, trying to find a glass one that did not have a metal plate in the bottom (apparently there is no such thing). Since I was doomed to have my boiling water touch metal regardless, I began researching kettles like this one that ranged in price from under $20 to hundreds (yes, hundreds--Who even buys those???) I finally settled on this one, in spite of the less than stellar reviews. Basically because they all pretty much look and work the same, near as I can tell. This one has no plastic that contacts the water (my #1 requirement). It also has the Strix technology and a keep warm function. No seams inside the pot (#2 requirement). The color is what put this one over the top for me. Pros: No plastic touching the water. Underside of lid is stainless steel as well as the spout and the entire interior. Boil dry protection. Large capacity 1.7 liters (just over 7 cups for the metrically challenged). Blue light on both the keep warm button and the on button. Wide opening for easy clean up. Push button lid. Pops open and stays open for easy fill. Push to close. Cordless kettle. Base is corded and a decent length at 3 feet. Love the dark blue color. Positive for me but probably a negative for some there is no plastic viewing window to see the water level. Cons: Not much in the way of instructions, but none really needed once you figure out the keep warm button. Mindful of all of the reviews about rusting, I wipe mine dry after every use. It seems like good quality stainless, so I don't anticipate having a problem. I use only filtered water, which should minimize mineral buildup. I discovered the first time I used it that it does not automatically flip over to keep warm after it reaches a boil, unless you manually engage the "keep warm" button when you start it. The keep warm button stays on until you turn it off, so I just push that on and then the power button and when the power button kicks off, the keep warm stays engaged so I don't forget it and come back to cold water. I have not had a problem with the lid banging open. I also have not experienced steam escaping the edges. Steam does come out of the spout when it reaches a boil. I am really happy with this and I'm glad I took the leap. With this, I will be getting out my French Press again.

The double wall really works--you can handle/touch the kettle anywhere so this is good around kids or clumsy people like myself
Simple, no frills electric kettle. It takes approx 8 min to come to a boil and auto shuts off when done boiling. You won't know it's done as it doesn't make a noise except what you can hear from the actual water boiling if you're next to it, so if you're in another room you'll have to just check if it's done. The double wall really works--you can handle/touch the kettle anywhere so this is good around kids or clumsy people like myself. You can press the "keep warm" button after it's boiled and it'll keep the water warm. This really means warm--not even close to boiling hot. The temperature is just warm enough that I can pour hot water out, wait 10 sec then drink the water immediately. I personally don't like this as I prefer the water to be just a little hotter for something like instant coffee (tried to make this with the "keep warm" water and the coffee wouldn't dissolve). I still give it 5 stars because this is a no-non sense kettle that anyone can use, even seniors. The newer fancier ones with tons of settings can get too complicated and might be cumbersome to teach other household members or guests.

Mixed feelings, but it does the job for now
Bought this because of the totally stainless interior (all kinds of plastic are a hazard with hot water/steam, don't be bamboozled by the 'no bpa' line). It replaces an older Cuisinart that finally gave up the ghost after 8 years of hard use. Sadly, the newer Cuisinart models all have plastic (why????). Pros: It's large (maybe a bit too large) and fast (boils a liter of water in under 5 minutes) and has a stay-cool exterior. The keep-warm feature is nice (keeps it at about the right temp for green tea), but I find I don't use it much. Cons: It is frankly ugly, especially compared to my cute old cuisinart. Color is fine (I have the blue, and the picture is pretty accurate), but it's just a big modern-looking hunk of plastic on the counter. It develops black staining on the bottom, and I can't figure out why (chemists, please weigh in on what this is!). However, the stains disappear along with the scale when I de-scale it, as I've been doing about every two weeks (heat some white vinegar to boiling, swirl, dump, & rinse--easy). I haven't experienced the rust some have seen (it's been a month so far)--I suspect water source makes a difference. The base is flimsier-seeming than my old kettle. I don't expect it to last as long, but it was about half the price. There is clearly a high demand for a plastic-free kettle that is higher-end and good-looking. I'm still searching, but at least I have tea in the meanwhile.
