## Description

L-Mesitran Active is a Hydro-Active, low-adherence, honey containing dressing for use on acute and chronic wounds. L-Mesitran Active is sterile, semipermeable wound dressings containing 30% honey, an acrylic polymer gel and water with a polyurethane film backing, without and with an adhesive border. The honey-hydrogel pad donates moisture to re-hydrate dry tissue and is also able to absorb low levels of exudate to help maintain a moist environment conducive to healing. The film backing provides the dressing with bacterial barrier properties. The adhesive border from the L-Mesitran Active allows the dressing to be fixed securely. This is useful where patients need to shower or bathe with the dressing in place. INDICATIONS: L-Mesitran Active are indicated for chronic wounds, such as: pressure ulcers; superficial and partial thickness burns; venous, arterial and diabetic ulcers; fungating wounds. They are also indicated for acute wounds such as donor sites, surgical wounds, cuts and abrasions. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE: 1. Inspect and if necessary, cleanse the wound as per local protocols. 2. Select a suitable size of the dressing, ensuring that the gel pad overlaps the edges of the wound by approximately 1cm. 3. Remove the sterile dressing from the package. 4. First, peel back half of the plastic protective liner. 5. Gently place the gel side of the exposed gel over the wound, while removing the second half of the plastic protective liner. 6. Once it is fully in place, remove the paper liners from the top of the dressing. Ensure that the adhesive of the L-Mesitran Active does not come into contact with the wound surface and is properly adhered. 7. Inspect the wound and the surrounding tissue regularly, as per local protocol. 8. In the event of an intolerance to the dressing or one of its components, remove the dressing using appropriate techniques and clean the area carefully. FREQUENCY OF CHANGE: The dressing can remain in place for up to five days, dependent upon the amount of wound exudate. Change the dressing prior to it becoming saturated with exudate, or if it has been compromised: by puncture, partial removal or leakage of exudate. Complete and gentle removal of the dressing may be aided by irrigation. Each dressing is for single use. Do not use after expiry date. Store between 5˚C and 25˚C. Avoid direct sunlight and moisture.
