BallPickling Salt - 32oz (by Jarden Home Brands)

This is a bag of salt that is mixed with other adulterants not stated in the label. For every 14g of “salt” there are less than 500mg of actual salt (sodium chloride). You’d basically find more salt in a 1/4 tsp of table or even Himalayan salt. This is why the back of the bag isn’t shown.It is NOT pure salt, despite the front label, and though it might be great for pickling due to whatever is in it, it is not suitable for anything else that requires salt: such as ketosis, or for replenishing electrolytes, or really anything aside from pickling.

I decided to buy salt that was intended just for pickling. I am not sure what is different about it but I trust the Ball brand and love to make my own half sour pickles. I have made around 10 batches of picks so far with this salt. I am very pleased with the product and would purchase it again when I run out. As you can see from my pictures my pickles remain a beautiful color. I remove them from the solution on day three and they are perfect. I use ¼ cup of salt to 4 cups of water. I added pickling spices and Ball makes a product to make the pickles crispy. I am so happy with the product. I would recommend spending a little extra and trying this product if you like to pickle the cucumbers you grow.

It's darn salty and tastes NOTHING like pickles! Just kidding. Ball consistently makes a great product.

I ordered this while at a store when they didn't have pickling salt. I didn't pay attention to the price. Next day at another store I found generic pickling salt at a fraction of the cost. Two stars simply because I wouldn't order this again at this price unless I was 300 miles from the nearest store that carried it and I couldn't wait.

Top quality at top price... Expensive for salt but peace of mind that you are using a quality product is worth the price when preserving food.
