Does it fit true to size?

I’m 6’4” and 235 lbs and the x large fits me fine. If I had a big belly then I would have to go up a size or two.

What's the dimensions of the front pocket?

the pocket is 3.5 in wide, 5 in high and 1/2 to 3/4 deep. My eyeglasses fit nicely, but prevent the top from fully closing.

Normally wear an xl what size do you suggest?

2xl. I ordered a 3xl because that's what I wear in carhartt. This 3xl did fit but was a tad bit short. 4xl fits me better with this brand.
