Work as they should with relative ease
Finally having received a trio I was able in less than 15 minutes to remove all THREE GVM 880RS from the very handy carry bag they come in, put them together, attach the relevant power supplies and have the running as they should....they work exactly as described and once you've mastered the hue/saturation along with the master/slave settings (so that they can all be controlled as one if applicable) you're ready to go.The app (not essential if you don't want to use it) allows you to facilitate the lights from the comfort of your chair or wherever without the need to attend to the lights direct.Having now put them through their paces I can say without hesitation they are well worth a punt, the lights are super bright but will travel down to almost nothing if you want them to, the array of colours can easily be reached, the hue/saturation works very well indeed. The barn doors are easy to use the diffusers (already installed on the lamp when first opening) can be slid out easily enough if you don't want to use them. The rotary controls are good, responsive, smooth and no off/on, you simply keep rotating clockwise/anti-clockwise until you reach the desired point. The buttons are responsive, easy enough to depress and feel smooth. The ability to work them individually as slaves or via one of them as the master is flawless and adds a real nice touch to the operation of the lamps. The tripods seem good, they are easy to use, smooth when extending or taking down, sturdy enough to carry the weight of the lamps, if you are to use them in a outdoor setting I would take a sandbag simply to give them extra stability, but here in my soon to be mini-studio they're perfect. Also if you are to use these portable they come with the ability to use via two batteries (separate purchase)(per lamp) I won't need to but to have the option is excellent. The carrying bag along with bags for each individual lamp along with cases for each individual tripod is a nice touch, they're well made and the main carry case does exactly what it should, it gives the entire setup a good amount of independence.I can't speak for the longevity of these lamps but I did my research before buying, GVM (Great Video Maker) have a proven track record of good quality, easily adaptable products that work very wellI can't quite afford it at the moment but to compliment these lights I'll be looking at the GVM-SD200R kit which if I do I'll be sure to review.GVM 880RS I can thoroughly recommend.

A lamb in wolf's clothing
The media could not be loaded. I have similar lights from another brand but all different models so was looking for a uniform kit with a bit more power.** Packaging **It comes in a big semi-hard case that looks very elaborate and neat, although it's really quite large- 60 x 25 × 36 cm. On the one hand it's nice and on the other it's frustrating that it's all so bulky. Inside the case everything is in velvet soft bags. By this point, the expectwtion of a high quality product is set high.** Build quality **Firstly you get 3x 60W lights and 3 light stands. The build quality is..... acceptable but not up to the expectations they set with the elaborate packaging. They feel no better than the cheap panel lights I owned previously. Possibly a bit cheaper. The stands specifically are pretty cheap albeit with a slightly thicker tube than the super cheap stands. The lights come on a swivel bracket which is metal. I'm not quite sure if the light panels are metal or plastic designed to look like brushed metal, but certainly the interface and knobs are all plastic with a basic LED interface** Ergonomics **It's a very simple light with perhaps more buttons than are necessary. Certainly the arrow buttons you may never use. The two knobs control the brightness and mode (CCT / Hue / Saturation).** Power **For a 60W panel I expected these to pack a punch. When I measured them, at 1m at 5600k I got 1740 lux (max) and at 3200k I got 1420 lux max output. This is with the diffusion plate in and the barn doors open, which is how most people will use the light. Without the diffusing plate I could get 1850lux at 5600k.** Other Functions **- The lights have a master / slave mode so you can keep them in sync.- As well as the CCT / Hue / Saturation mode there is also an FX mode you can access by pushing and holding the right knob. There are 8 modes and you short-press the CCT/ Hue button to cycle through them. You can then adjust the timing of each mode by rotating the same dial. Quite nice.** Conclusions **This kit doesn't have the power I was expecting for 60W lights and isn't up to the build quality I had expected from GVM. That said, the case is nice (although very bulky) and the light covers all of the basic functions you neeed. I especially like the ability to change the timing in the FX modes. Overall lacking the output and build quality for 5* so 4 star rating from me.
