SeaSense Oar Lock Socket Insert

These are nice quality items that are what they say and work great for it. I bought 2 sets for my four holes and a mallet made it easy to push them in. They work smooth and great with both my plastic and my metal oar locks.

Fit perfect

We inserted these into the cast aluminum oar mounts on are riveted into the gunnels of our 14-ft aluminum skiff boat. The plastic sleeves were a bit too long but my husband trimmed them down a bit with a razor knife and they fit just right. When we slide the posts of the oar rings into and out of them, these little black sleeves stay in place. Problem solved.

These are great. I've seen a few reviews by folks who don't understand how to install something like this, and claiming they don't fit - usually because they are a bit loose. Just use a bit of tape to shim them a tad, and tap them into place with a rubber mallet. Use a piece of wood so you aren't pounding directly on the plastic insert. I used some yellow "Frog" masking tape, which is available in exactly the right width.Any rough metal casting such as an oar lock fitting, is going to have some size variance unless the casting is made a bit undersize, and then machined. Cast aluminum oar locks, which are the most common ones, are always unmachined rough castings. Basically, all oar locks are rough castings except for the pricier bronze ones. The design intent with the rough cast oar locks is to use them bare (sloppy and noisy) or to use an insert that will almost always require a bit of a shim wrap to fit properly.

I have an old 10' Jon boat. I had purchased a set of oar locks recently. The locks fit very loosely into the slots on the old boat. Added these socket inserts and the fit is near perfect. Rowing is much more quite and with much less slop. I don't know if the holes on the old Jon boat were just worn out or if these sockets are required in all boats. This is my first.

SeaSense Oar Lock Socket InsertThese inserts don't fit the oarlocks I purchased. I took a chance and put down a good $3+ on them. They should give dimentions of the product so you can measure oarlocks, to see if they will fit. I haven't figured out where to use these bushings, as they don't fit the oarlocks I will use them for my other boat. I really only have one boat. I may stash them for a repurpose need later in my life. The one star is for lack of information in this offer and that they don't work for me. If the seller doesn't like it, let me know, change your information and or product listing stating what oarlock they are compatible with and lower the price and maybe then I will adjust my rating. Three stars.

Anyone who fishes from row boats should always have a pair of these in his tackle bag just in case.....Basically, what they do is downward convert a larger diameter socket to a smaller socket so that the oar lock pin doesn't sway around too much when you are rowing.again, in many cases, you won't need them, but when you do, you will be glad you had them!

So I ordered these to replace the worn ones on my boat. Turns out the were a small OD that my old ones. Luckily my old ones were worn so bad that these fit snuggly inside my old ones, they work great so far.

I bought this to put in a bigger oar holder on the used boat I bought, the oars I had already fit perfectly now.

These things saved me a lot of money. I’m using them for my Costco wilderness 14 boat and they fit like a glove.

Work awesome! Previously had used a piece if garden hose but this looks nicer. It keeps the oars from slipping around and quiet when you row.
