Deserves 5 stars - Worth the money
I hardly ever write reviews about tools unless they're so bad I need to warn people or they're so good that they deserve the credit and recognition. The good: Largest volume I could find for a manual fluid extractor. This came in handy when I was pulling the transmission fluid out of an Axod Metric AT. It took up everything but an inch or two from the top. Very handy. Very effective suction. I had to pump about four times to extract the majority of the fluid. After that I was basically sucking out small volumes at a time to drain the rest of what was in the pan. The primary and secondary hose design is very convenient. It made the job virtually mess free. The plastic nut that slips under the primary hose connection to the vessel is very convenient, allows the user to gently unhook the hose without rocking a canister full of fluid. The onboard storage for the primary hose suction end is very thoughtful. Also, onboard storage for the two provided hoses is very thoughtful. Its nice that I can unhook the primary hose after a large job and just latch on to something above and let it gravity drain into the main canister. The bad: The cap is a little bit tought to get off. I haven't quite managed to get it yet, but I figure it just needs more effort than I put in. The 1/4" secondary hose does not allow the user to undo the hose and refit with another, like the kind you can get from a hardware store. That would be handy in the case that I want to do a job that is highly sensitive to contaminants, like CVT fluid. I noticed that the primary hose has a 1/4" size insert but I'm not sure if that will hold suction, I'll have to try it. Conclusion: With that said, I think its worth the money. You can pay a little bit more for other units that go for more that happen to have more reviews. I'm not sure why this one doesn't get more attention. I've always been a fan of OEM Tools primary for the quality of their work. I'm looking forward to changing auto fluids now. Cleaner, faster, more effective.

Best tool for bleeding brakes or changing oil. Love this tool. But has some issues.
I bought this unit in the larger size because I have a Dodge Cummins diesel that holds 12quarts of oil. I also have used it on my Prius and on my daughters sailboat Perkins motor. It has worked perfectly so far. Now for the best part. Last week I had to do rear brakes on my dodge diesel 3500. I had ordered the brake bleeder additional part. After replacing the pads I decided to do a brake fluid flush. I removed the master cylinder cap and was able to suck all the fluid out of the dual reservoir and refilled it with fresh fluid. Onto the furthest wheel from the master cylinder, turn the bleeder valve on this tool to off pump it down attach the hose to the bleeder, crack the bleeder and open the valve. Suck out enough fluid until fluid runs clear. Tighten down bleeder screw. Refill the master cylinder reservoir and repeat. Oh man, a one man bleeder and a huge tank so I never have to dump fluid between wheels. This thing worked great! I have used those finger pump bleeder suckers and they just suck at sucking and you have to empty them 3 times per wheel. Those finger pumper bleeders cost 2/3 of what this costs! So simple to use and works great. I will never bleed again with those finger pumps. This is so much easier! To bleed a car or truck was the best part of this tool. Sucking oil is just an added benefit. Buy this, itโs a no brainer. P.S. the screw ring on the suction side of the tank seems backwards. The tube flange is actually on top of the screw ring. The ring-screw does not hold the hose onto the tank. After much head scratching I simply thought it was just incorrectly made. I scoured the manual and ,as is typical of offshore made products, the manual was useless. Then, I called them. They said itโs correct and the ring is under the tube flange to help push the tube flange off if it needs changing. Why donโt they add that piece of info in the directions? Really stupid! If I were the design engineer, I would make the flange fit under the ring and be done with it and rewrite the instructions. It would cost a one time set up and problem solved but Iโm not the engineer and it is made in China. All this said, it seems well made, despite that glitch, and I will continue to use this very effective tool. Some have said that the suction tube is too short, and it is. It will not reach into the pan on larger engines and the flexible tube behind the hard tube is too short so the tank canโt sit on the ground when pumping the handle on a large vehicle or one that is both tall and a large engine. Like my 4WD 3500 truck. A 3 foot solid tube pickup and a 4 foot longer tank to hard hose would have worked better. I fixed that at Home Depot for about 10 $ but it seems silly that I have to deal with these deficiencies instead of the manufacturer. Are you at OEM listening?! Fix this.

Super easy to use, works very well.
Excellent, I was able to drain my 2026 Defender 110 V8 oil very close to completely, considering the tall reservoir (9.5L) was basically full to the brim after extraction. On the Defender V8 it is important to let a hot engine sit for about 1 hour prior, and loosen up the oil filter housing prior to extraction so air can sip in. After putting new oil and oil filter in, a little bit of timing chain rattling is normal, it will quiet down after about 10-15 seconds or so. The electronic oil level check says full and OK after about 8 quarts. Don't overfill. Super easy to use vacuum pump, first oil change at 1,300 miles after break-in period. Took me about 15 min, first time use. Recommended. If you have a Defender V8, never wait for the insane 15,000 mile factory recommended intervals. Change the oil and filter yourself with this tool at every 5,000 miles and your AJ133S engine will last a long time, worry free.

This really is great for oil changes. The manual truly is worthless
You're probably about 90% committed to converting to doing oil changes by the dipstick method, but not sure which one of these extractors to buy and really wondering if this is a reliable method to do it. I looked at the various other extractors sold by HF as well as the MityVac model, and realized that they're all about the same and ultimately I chose this one mainly because of the large capacity (engine holds 9 liters) and the easy Amazon return policy. And go ahead and convert to the dipstick method, it's so much easier and faster, and the results are just the same as draining the pan. And FYI, Mercedes recommends the vacuum method vs draining the pan for their cars, which I confirmed with one of their mechanics. So I figured if Mercedes approves of this method, there must be something to it. As far as changing the oil via the dipstick, this is definitely the way to do it. All the advantages are real as well as the time savings of not having to lift/jack the car up. Also, this eliminates that remote chance of giving your wife PTSD when she finds you dead and crushed under your car after the jackstands fail. As far as this pump goes, it works great but as many other reviewers have noted, the included manual for this extractor is junk. There is zero helpful information in there. Honestly all the information you need is in these user reviews. Also, as many have mentioned, the device itself looks to be designed by a drunk engineer. Lots of times you'll look at it thinking "What in the world?" trying to figure out what one particular hole/fitting does, or the purpose of a seemingly random nut which doesn't seem to do a thing, or why there are various tubes and parts that don't seem to do anything. Somehow, magically, despite these oddities, the pump does a great job. This extractor removed and held 8.5 liters of oil without a problem in 10 minutes, with definitely room to hold another liter, so the 9.5 liters is probably correct. As others have noted, there are no marks on the container so there really is no way to tell if you got all the oil out or how much you've got out. I'd do what another reviewer had recommended and suck up however much quarts of water your engine is expected to hold, mark the cannister, and then proceed to drain the water out and suck up the oil. It's the only way to confirm that 1, your hose was long enough to get to the bottom of the oil pain and 2, that you got all the oil out. Keep in mind that your engine may be a quart low so don't get too alarmed if you're short. If you've done your own oil before, you should have an idea what your car uses up and what to expect. And no mention of this anywhere, but the only way to empty the container is to remove the intake hose and just dump it out of the large opening. I've now done 2 oil changes and a brake flush with this extractor, and it definitely has made things super easy. The inner diameter of the dipstick tube is small, so get your engine to operating temperature to make the oil easy to flow. The suction power is good, although really no way to get any idea of how much vacuum you're creating, and the plastic is thick and durable. I'm happy I have it and I'm happy with this new way to changing the oil. If only the manual was usable, this would be a 5 star product.

Nice product and worked as advertisedโฆ
I used this pump on my 2013 Mercedes S550 that has close to 9 quarts of oil. I followed the instructions including getting the oil warmed up before I started. I pumped it about 5-6 times and the oil started flowing. At about the 3/4 empty mark it stopped and I pumped it another 5-6 times and it started flowing again. When it was near empty, I had to keep pumping like maybe 30-40 times to get the last little bit of oil out. From beginning to end took about 20 minutes but mostly watching it flow without pumping. So 5 stars for sure. I would deduct a half star because after the container is filled, I did not see a cap that can be put in place where the hose attaches, so transporting the oil in that container to a recycling center will be tricky because if it tips over in transit it will spill out. ๐ค๐ป

The dipstick tube is not anywhere near long enough to suck the trasmission fluid out of my pickup truck, which is why I purchased the product in the first place. The dipstick tube should be 5 feet long for good measure. Either ship the product with two dipstick tubes, one for engine oil and another for transmission fluid, or ship with a 5 foot dipstick tube and let the customer cut to length. Also, ship with an extra plug in fitting or adapter and let the customer use a hose clamp to put whatever length hose they want on the end (adapters for a few different diameter hoses would be best). This would not be too much to ask given the price of the product. I did not really get to use the product since the dipstick hose was too short for me, but when I stuck my finger over the end, it did not seem to create much suction, so I am worried that even when I get the correct tube length, it may not work right. I got everything ready and tried to do this on a very hot Sunday only to find the dipstick tube was way too short. Since everything was closed on Sunday, I could not even get some fittings and/or a longer hose and try to modify it myself. I was not happy since all they needed to do is ship the product with a longer hose that costs essentially nothing, or at least send some extra adapters so the customer can clamp whatever length hose they need on the adaper. Is there an email or phone number where I can contact oemtools directly to see if they can send me a 5 foot long dipstick tube or an adapter I can clamp my own hose too ? After spending this much money for a pump, I would rather not spend time trying to modify the short hose they sent. If oemtools and/or Amazon will help me and this thing works well when I get the lnoger hose, I will change my review. Thanks, John

Why did I not get one of these years ago
Why did I never do this before ????? I used to pay $130 for a local oil change shop to drop the belly pan on my Audi, drain the oil via drain pan, put 7 quarts of Castrol back in and fit my own Mahle oil filter. Then spend 20 mins trying to re-fit the belly pan. $80 of that cost was labor, now with 2 oil changes using this fluid evacuator I am already saving money and it's so much more convenient. Granted, I have to decant the old oil into a larger container but I am quite willing to do that since the evacuator paid for itself in 2 oil changes.

2014 vw gli so easy
I admit, I was hesitant to buy this at first. Some people say the tube is too short to hit the oil pan. I have a 2014 vw gli. It is more than long enough. Maybe 10 minutes to Draw out oil. It works incredibly well. I will never pay to have my oil changed again. Note: this pump works well for my vw because the oil filter is at the top of the motor. If you plan to buy this for your car, and the filter happens to be at the bottom of the motor, you might as well just pull the drain plug.

Get one.
My favorite new tool. Saves so much mess and trouble. I pulled the inner rings out of mine so it's easier to keep clean in case you're looking to reuse the fluid you extract with it. Works great so far and it gets used lots.

Quick setup, intuitive operation, quick results. Only recommendation is the opening have a spout to pour the old liquids out, does spill a little.

Awesome tool!
This works great! Big time saver! I service forklifts and some need to be jacked up to get a drain pan under. This saves my back from carrying the jack and blocking to the service area. Easily dumps out.
