I'm flummoxed and surprised! Given the price point for this camera, I wasn't really expecting much. My old flatbed scanner was being recalcitrant and didn't want to reinstall when I reinstalled Win10. After many muttered profanities I realized the old scanner WAS old, and didn't have current drivers. Also having a really cheap webcam I decided a multi-use item was what I wanted. I was rather pleasantly surprised by so many things upon receipt of this newfangled gadget: - limited but sufficient packaging so not much of an environmental impact, but enough to protect it during shipping; - small set-up guide in an age where they're even leaving these out to save money; - sturdy base and design (not industrial-grade, but it feels like it'll hold together for a long while); - no media in the package, rather go and get the latest version from their website (which makes sense), and this turned out to be a quick and easy installation (no muss, no fuss); - a surprising amount of well-done documentation on the website, AND it is easy to find; - the software that comes with it only takes a few minutes to master, but if you DO run into a roadblock there are straightforward videos to help you out. I've only used it for about 15 minutes but I already feel like it will do everything I wanted and possibly more. It even does the document scanning I need it to - easy and with decent quality. Now if I can just find the setting that will help ME look better ON camera... ---=== ADDENDUM ===--- Okay, so it's a couple days later. Right after posting the initial review I found a few documents on my desk I had to 'scan' in. It was as easy as my out-of-box practice, and I'm still surprised at how clear the document comes out. While it isn't quite as seamless as a flat bed scanner, it's better than I expected (it takes longer to set up, and you may want to crop borders, etc.). Still, I'm quite happy with it when used to scan documents. Yesterday I had an all-day virtual exercise to participate in and I used this camera and microphone instead of my usual setup. It performed beautifully. My old microphone is bigger than this whole unit but wasn't necessary as I was told I came through just fine with the pin-hole microphone on this little camera unit. At first, I wasn't pleased with the camera resolution, then I remembered I'm in a dark basement - so with the addition of a single light with a non-glare bulb and that was taken care of. Again, all-in-all I'm still quite pleased with this little camera. I'm even more delighted with the amount of desk space I get back after removing that big old flatbed scanner!

I will be using this to teach an art class to senior citizens. I am a senior citizen as well, and I find it physically difficult to work up on an easel. The document reader will allow me to work on the table top and project the project to an overhead TV. It is very sturdy, the picture is very clear. The best part is that it is easy to set up and use. It works beautifully!

Wonderful! Great quality camera, very clear and just awesome value for the price, and the computer software has so many options! You can take pics or videos and freeze the screen. I think you can also draw with it. Please know I’ve only used it for a day, but my best friend (also a teacher like me) has had it for about 3-4 years and she loves it! I got mine because of her recommendation. And it’s such a great size, super portable and lightweight. It’s not clunky at all. I was worried about how much space it would take on my desk, but it’s so perfect! Really great value! I still can’t believe it’s only $80. So worth it. If you’re on the fence like I was, get this one. I don’t believe you need to spend so much for other ones when one like this is available.

This thing is so tiny and lightweight, easy to carry and store! The Documate software is easy to find online and download from the website (installed in about 10 minutes). The camera plugs into my laptop's USB port; I open Documate and I'm good to go! Features I like: Documate includes a nice whiteboard feature, as well as the ability to get a crisp image with the auto-focus (AF button on the actual device, or as a control in the software). The image can be reversed left-to-right, and/or upside down. I use the device for tutoring with Zoom (aiming the camera at a physical piece of paper on my tabletop usually), and I have also used it standing upright and aimed at my face, for video chatting with students or friends - the image flipping is useful then, else I'd be upside down! It has a better image than my laptop camera, and sometimes a more reliable microphone. There are basic tools like a marker so you can write on the image whether it's in white board or camera mode - I once wrote "Guten Morgen!" to float in the air next to my image with the camera, when chatting with my friend in Austria. It would be great for language learning with kids, I think - you could show yourself in an ordinary room in your house, and label chair, table, shelf, etc. on the screen while you talk. I've only had 3 issues since purchasing this in November 2020, and the problems may not be with this device at all: (1) when I used with my older laptop, that machine would crash after 15 minutes, but it was having that problem with anything video related; (2) the LED bulb didn't work at my last tutoring session, though it worked before. But the camera picked up the natural light in the room better than my own eyes did! I found it easier to write by watching the screen, than watching my own writing directly. (3) I tried to use the camera mic in my last Zoom session and I could not hear my student, so it was like it was expecting me to have a microphone headset combo .... but that could have been a Zoom issue or a problem with the student's computer. Overall, this has been one of my best purchases of the year. I'm a currently unemployed and low-tech teacher, trying to figure out how to earn money from home during Covid. This has helped so much!

I am an art teacher and teach virtual art lessons. I needed a way to be able to model techniques to my student. I researched several cameras but went with this one because of the features and size of presentation area. This is easy to set up and easy to use. I use google meet and it’s great. The quality is great and it accomplished exactly what I needed it too. It makes teaching virtually so much easier and more productive.

Ce scanner est performant et «souple». Je l'utilise pour des travaux où les scanners de livres ou à plat sont mal adaptés. Le gros reproche qui vaut les seules trois étoiles est dû à la qualité du logicel fourni. Tout est à revoir : ergonomie, performance, fonctions disponibles, etc. Ce logiciel est digne des années très antérieures à notre époque. À signaler le fait que le scanner n'est pas reconnu par d'autres logiciels d'imagerie.

This is my go-to doc camera for tutoring reading online. Great clarity. Easy to use. Large viewing area—I need to be able to view an 11X16” or 12X18”whiteboard. I use the free app that is associated with it for reading printed books with my students. I am able to annotate as we read and the clarity is great 👍
