These are very fine performances with very good sound. The Martinu concerto is a wonderful composition. I should have known better than to buy it, though, because, as is too often the case with Sony recordings, there is unacceptable audience noise, in this particular case, it is an especially jarring level of cheering/applause at the end of both works. If that doesn't bother you, the performances are thoroughly recommendable. Otherwise, you may prefer Poltera/Dausgaard on BIS for the Martinu, paired with the Dvorak concerto. There are plenty of other fine recordings of the Elgar (but don't be sucked in by the hordes of Jacqueline Du Pre worshippers; it was recorded in the mid 1960s, and no amount of digital remastering is going to change that.)

My favorite cellist, this is another album totally worth whatever is paid for it!
