It’s a huge BEAST! Plenty of power for entire house.
What a huge BEAST!! I been running 7550 watts Generac generator past few years, only issues I faced was not able run AC, Dryer what runs 220 volts. We able to cook on stove with only 2 burners. My Golly, this beast is something! Being heavy equipment mechanic, this thing not as loud as my 7550 Generac. I was able do ANYTHING in my home even 5 tons AC. The positive thing it contains breakers on each plugs., lots of plugs to run cords to my shop nearby. Moving it not bad with the solid wheels, weights 680 lbs. loaded with gas and oil. I added rack on top hold my cords and such. Starting this thing really different. Like a robot self start once button was pushed. I put synthetic oil in it instead using factory as I live in cold climate and stat any temperature. This thing runs GREAT!! I put it together was a breeze as I didn’t read the instructions, I just knew what I’m doing. I was lucky enough to own a cherry picker to get it off the pallet. I know some customers not prepare for that. Lol. I was, knew gonna be heavy. Love the frame around it. Xcel energy was so pissed I was prepared to have power when they don’t want me not having power. We people should always be prepared. I’m happy to have this BEAST!! 20k running watts is just more than I need. Those who curious, my house 3,300 square foot.

Absolute Beast
First things first the Wgen20000 is an absolute beast and I am so happy I bought this generator. This 28kw starting 20kw running generator is massive but surprisingly it’s super easy to move around with the included wheel kit so don’t be intimidated by the weight or size. The generator is loud but it’s to be expected but the smart idle is where you find the sweet spot not just in performance but how it separates itself from other generators . I say this most will vary Wildly with different loads but this beast just runs steady and you can hardly tell any difference with different loads. It’s remote start is great and has an easy time pairing itself to the generator. The only con with a generator like this is actually the 20kw itself. As you know the generator has two 50amp plugs. Something to consider is that a 50amp cord can only carry up to 12kw so if you’re connecting this to your house to an inlet for something like an interlock kit you’re going to be stuck bottlenecked at 12kw max unless you have an additional sub panel with its own separate inlet and interlock kit and even then that’s a bit much. The honest work around without breaking the bank is having to run cables around to make use of the left over kw. There are other ways to accomplish this but those two are a little much. This however is also rad as well because you can easily hook up two homes and run things just fine using both of the 50amp plugs or 30’s. Other than that one issue the generator is the best bet for you and your family. I live in the north west and between harsh storms, snow storms, downed lines and accidents my area it’s not a matter of if we’ll lose power it’s when. With this generator I can safely say my family won’t be going without and as someone with a newborn that’s a big weight off my shoulders. The generator came on a crate and was packaged super great not a ding or issue with anything. Choose the Wgen20000 for unmatched power and peace of mind.

Very few problems. Big & powerful.
For the WGEN20000: 1. Initial start-up (in cold weather) was worrisome. I had just put in gas and oil for the first time. A shot of ether fixed that. Has started with no problems since. 2. Cannot see the oil on the dip stick; it’s there, but the oil is clear and very hard to make out on the shiny dip stick. Also, I couldn't find any marks on the dip stick. Once the oil is used and turns a little brown it should have contrast and be fine. 3. The 50 amp receptacles are too close to the tire and make it hard to plug in the large cords. Worst you’ll have to do is pull a cotter pin and remove the wheel. 4. Cannot tell yet if this generator has a low oil shutoff feature. I hope it doesn’t. A light or alarm would be nice but not a complete shutdown. My older generator had one and it was 3 years of really bad trouble until I figured out the low oil sensor was bad. I cut the wire to it and no more problems. The angels came out and sang. Btw, I’m always checking the oil. 5. Overall it seems very well designed, things are easy to get to and there’s lots to like about it. I just hope it works well over the years with the sporadic use that is intended. 6. Mine says it is made in Vietnam, not China. So I consider that a step up.

Under Built, Unreliable Accident Waiting To Happen
This generator is huge - over 500 lbs. The frame is way undersized for the weight of this thing. The first - and only - time I lifted the generator by the included lifting bar it buckled (see pic). When the bar bucked the frame flexed. I can see multiple places where the paint scraped away from bolts slipping as the frame shifted. I can only hope that didn't do damage that will shorten the lift of the unit. The wheels are also too small. They are fine for flat concrete, but forget about gravel or grass/dirt. The panel is flimsy. The 30a and 50a receptacles are really tight (which is a good thing) and when I go to insert/remove a plug I'm worried that the receptacle is going to rip off the panel. The fuel shutoff literally pops out of its holder when you turn it on if you don't hold onto it. Finally, the design of the screen on the fuel filler makes gasoline splatter all over the place when filling. I want to love this generator. The price per watt is incredible. But I feel like Westinghouse ruined it by cutting corners in the build quality. I have serious concerns about the long term reliability of the product. I don't feel safe lifting it and the wheels make it impossible to roll, so I'm left with a portable generator that I can't get where I need it without extra equipment. I would have gladly paid a few extra $100 for a more sturdy frame, bigger wheels, and a beefier panel. Update 2021-11-7: Reducing to 2 stars due to continued manufacturing issues. I went to move the generator and found one of the four nuts that holds the engine to the frame on the floor. No thread lock on a part that vibrates like crazy… Update 2022-5-1: 1 star. Generator has a parasitic draw that drains the battery and there’s no pull rope, so when the battery is dead you can’t start the generator. What good is a generator that you can’t start when the power is out? Clean it up, Westinghouse.

Great Generator & Much Less Expensive than More Advertised Brand
We ordered the WGen20000 4 months ago and, luckily, have not had to use it to power the house yet. It arrived on time without any issues even though it is a big, heavy item (600 lbs). With the help of a certified electrician, we were able to set it up ready for the next hurricane. It is loud, but it easy to start and should be able to deliver power to our entire house. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars is that the low power mode does not work. I will call the customer support number to see how to correct this issue. It is less than half price of the most popular brand and does everything that the other is advertised to do.

Westinghouse 20000/28000 watt generator
I use this machine for dual purpose. I run my welder and plasma cutter and also will serve as a back up gen for appliances should the power go out. I’ve only used for a couple of hours. My older 11000watt machine would bog down when you really needed the power for my welder. This one, doesn’t phase it. Doesn’t even loose any rpm. The welding machine is a Hobart 200i multi process machine and I only run it the 230v setting. It has been great using this generator. I also like the fact that this generator comes with 2 14R-50 outlets. No need to switch power cords. With the generators 17gal tank, it has plenty of run time. It is heavy so plan for that. I think around 540lbs empty, then add gas, you’ve got a heavy generator. Either way, very happy with the purchase and would recommend. UPDATE: I’ve now had the opportunity to get some real run time on the generator. I’ve at up the remote fob as well. It’s nice when you can turn it off when it’s not needed and turn it back on when you’re ready, all from the remote start. If had to complain about something, I’d say it’s the wheels. Being it’s as heavy as it is, they flat spot pretty badly when left in place too long. More of a gripe. On cooler days it uses an automatic choke and may not start first try, mine seems to want to load up on fuel then backfire on start. I’m very happy with it and look forward to many years to come with it

Worth the cost, a great unit.
Great generator. Plenty of power. Using it as a whole house option for outages. For its size and weight, it is surprisingly well balanced for moving around. Louder than others but the power output and strong construction make it worth it.

Power to spare
Tested my new WGen20000 today. I have a large home with inlaw quarters, with two 200 amp panels. I ran a 50 amp to one panel and and 30 amp to the other. I got everything hooked up and ran the test. I was able to run my 5 ton AC, 3 ton AC and every other outlet and lights simultaneously. The only thing I didn't try to power were the 2 electric ovens and the dryer. I could have run those easily if I turned of the AC and its possible I could have done both but didn't feel the need. All other fuses were on. Other than a expected drop when each AC kicked on the generator ran like a champ. This is truly a whole home generator backup, but at a third the cost of a permanent one. I did have an electrician wire everything for a manual transfer. As long as it performs long term as it did during my test I'm a happy camper. Another nice feature is that it has low idle mode that will drop the engine down quite a bit and get much quieter when not under a load which will conserve gas. It will go through some gas but with a 17 gal. tank I won't have to fill it up every couple hours. Very happy so far!!!
