I believe the printed instructions are wrong. The tall end of the hard guard fits better on the heel of the blade. Your picture shows this too.

Size Large. The soakers are sized. The guards will need to be cut to size.

Would a medium or large be best for a size 8.5(US)?

The hard guards come in a tacky red

I really liked the entire set I just didn’t like the color of the hard guards it was a bit lighter then the towel and soakers but other then that I really liked it :)
