ok so the unit came on a pallet with cardboard wrapped around it. After opening the cardboard i noticed that some of the fins were slightly damaged / pushed in. Not enough to want to send it back. The unit came with an in and an out port which was covered by a clear plastic round disc held in place by screw on rings. This was ok I guess to protect the connections. I had to wait 2 weeks before the electrician could come and install the wiring and connection box. In the mean time i purchased a base from amazon and when that came i placed the unit on it and tried to install the water lines. Hmmmmm that was a joke as i went to three pool stores looking for connections to fit the in and out ports mentioned above. One pool stores that sells and installs this unit said that I was missing parts that reduces the ports to standard fittings and that was the issue. I asked if he had them and was told it comes from the factory . I called Raypak and talked to customer service and i explained what I was missing and after several minutes discussing the missing items the condition of the packaging and delivery condition he said i had 2 options a) return the unit but i may have to pay for the shipment as it was from a third party selling not amazon ! and wait another month for a new unit B) i could wait 10 days and they would ship the missing parts . They were kind enough to offer free c shipping. I chose the latter. So after all that drama and 2 months i finally have it installed . It works only when the pool pump is running as the unit itself has no internal pump. That means when i shut off the pump the unit stops. There is no native App to control the heater. There are generalized apps (i tried 2 and they are not great). The only options are to turn the unit on /off but the pump still needs to be running. You do have the option of modifying the the temperature from the front panel on the unit itself . It is extremely quiet and efficient as i expected. Now i have a 21 foot round and it will raise the water temperature by 10 degrees overnight . During the day if i run it for about 5 hrs it will accomplish the same efficient heating. I found that if i put a solar cover o the pool when not in use the heating is much more efficient. Lastly i cannot tell you the cost of electricity USA as i have solar power and batteries on my house so i do not use grid power hence no cost to use this item. For reference it seems to use between 1-2 kilowatts per hour (i can monitor the usage via my solar app) . Lastly i live in the northeast and my pool usage was 3 months late June to late September. I’m hoping that this will allow me to use the pool early June to early October with a constant water temperature of 75 degrees.

I purchased the 45K BTU Inverter unit. Came packaged very well. No damage. Unit looks good and is not too heavy. I extended my concrete pad at the pump location and then installed the unit. It comes with the union fittings and easy to pipe into the system. The unit has a ground lug on the exterior that connects to the ground plane around the pool. Inside the unit, at the electrical connection, it has terminal strips for the(240) two 120 Vac legs and a equipment ground. My pool is about 7500 Gallons. It heated the water at opening from 62 to 84 Deg in 24 hours. It is a very quiet unit. The pump is louder than this unit. I installed a current switch on the pump electrical feed that wires back to the 2 wire automation connection on the unit. This prevents the unit from trying to run if the pump is not on. Pump is connected to Smart Things and turns on and off at the programmed times. So far so good

I like the temperature setting that cycles back and forth between heating and cooling to maintain a constant temperature in the pool. I also positioned my gazebo by the fan on this unit to benefit from the cool air flow too.

It works great. Our pool is the perfect temperature during the summer. This heat pump has added an extra month of swimming at the beginning of summer and into the fall. I’ve had trouble getting someone to come out and service it. But phone service was helpful.

5 stars. Big fan of this heat pump. Installed myself on a salt water 12,000 gal oval semi in ground pool in Northern Illinois. Wired up 240v, used supplied unions but added two 3way valves for a bypass loop. Fired it up and unit ran almost silently and heated well, but not fast. With the new VS pump, it heats even better. Used cooling once, very fun. It's not obvious in the product data, but it has and uses wifi communication, smart things app has details for it. Can control and view remotely from anywhere, and shut down in storms so the vfd doesn't run or get surged. The flow switch works well, the screen is easy to view, and the operation is super quiet while it modulates. I'm trying to figure out if using the acc terminals will allow remote operation for swg module, that would be cool. The case discolored some over winter, I will be looking for a minisplit cover soon. Shipped on skid and delivered great, good seller, good product. The family is happy. Will update if it craps out.

Great unit. Works silently. Easy to setup. Note that Raypack won’t honor warranty without proof of a licensed installer. First unit we got had a failed control board due to incorrect settings from factory. Returned and ordered again due due Raypak being slow and local service people aren’t interested in servicing. Keeps our 15k above ground pool at 89f with days being in the 70’s and nights in high 50’s in western Washington. Very efficient power about 10-15 dollars per month to keep pool toasty. Also using a solar pool cover when pool not in use.

Works great so far. Pool is 6750 gallons and heats up great! Do recommend using a solar cover to prevent heat loss at night.

Works great. I learned that Raypak makes industrial boilers. I can raise the temperature of my pool 12 degrees in 24 hours.
