I’m not sure what YOU mean by universal however its practical and anyone can use it if it fits their needs. I purchased it because it fits MY life style.

Will this fit 2004 ford explorer xlt?

I’m not sure because it depends on where the headrests are on your rear seat. My rear seat is 4ft wide and my headrests are 20 inches apart so it fits perfectly for my auto.. FYI the straps are adjustable if that helps!

Will this fit a 2020 Land Cruiser?

yes, it fit your 2020 land cruiser
