Taylor 5989N 1" Dial Classic Instant Read Thermometer (2 Pack)

I got these thermometers to check/cpmpare soil temperatures in my garden where I was using different types mulch vs no mulch- In Maine we struggle to get soil temps high enough to get good germination of several warm weather crops ( beans, for example) before June so I was wanting to see if using black plastic to warm the soil would help and I needed a few thermometers to use that would not break the bank. These worked great -the only problem they are small so can get lost in the shuffle if you are not careful - I would recommend -work great for me.

Arrived new in package. I've used this exact thermometer before, and they last a long time (if they don't break from being dropped). I have used 3 before, and only 1 of them needed bi-weekly recalibrations. There is a small margin of error - ice slurry calibrations reach ~98/208 when testing in boiling water, which should still be close enough considering the temperature is displayed slightly lower.

Wish numbers were bigger

I use this almost daily when cooking. Extremely accurate for what it is. Works easy

This is the best thermometer IMHO, I have two friends that had their fancy electric thermometers fail on them this thanksgiving. So for Christmas I bought them the best most reliable thermometer I know of !

I didn't realize how bad my vision was! The small dial is a little hard to read, but if it were larger it would be awkward! Just what I needed for temperature sensitive work.
