The first shelf arrived with a crunched corner. Amazon quickly replaced it. The replacement also arrived with a few blemishes acquired during shipping, but since they were less apparent, I just disguised them with a bit of paint rather than returning again. However, my experience suggests that the company should modify their packaging to better protect their product. I ordered both a 48" and a 72" shelf and the longer shelf arrived intact, so it was only an issue with the shorter ones. The pre-drilled holes in the shelves did not align with where I wanted to install them, so I had to drill an extra hole in the 48" shelf in order for two of the screws to go into studs, as recommended by the instructions. I found the installation easy to do, but I did need help holding them up while positioning and installing them, as they are quite heavy.

I bought it as a gift so i didn’t take it out of the box to check it before giving it to someone.. for $40 dollars I feel like this shouldn’t be an issue.. we just colored the chips in with sharpie still disappointed … won’t buy again

This is a great product. In my case I wanted a bit more of a heat blocker to ensure heat from gas logs didn’t over-warm my wall mounted TV - in spite of it being well above standards for distance between the two. I didn’t want a big mantle but wanted something and this is perfect. I installed it myself - so very easy to do.
