Q: Are the bottom of the feet protected with any materials so they don't scratch wood surfaces?

the feet are circular pieces of smooth rounded metal with felt-like dots on the bottom for the table surface. Even without the felt dots, which one has fallen off, its not marking my furniture in any way.

Yes I think it would hold a 4 1/4 coaster.

This is a real nice coaster holder made in China.

Q: Can this hold a bath and body works candle?

I am not sure about a Bath and Body Works candle, but it easily fits a large jar Yankee Candle with room to spare. Hope this helps.
