This is by far the best WWE game in years
This is by far the best WWE game in years. The newest additions make the game play out like a real match and I have seen things happen in matches that I have never seen in a wrestling game that make me smile every time and make me happy with this purchase.

So close but just falls short.
This year again we get another 2k wrestling game. Now everybody by now knows that the rosters are going to be slightly out-of-date as they are supposedly put in place by the previous year's WrestleMania. If you actually update your game to the current products rosters and setups then you will no doubt immediately notice how much of the NXT is missing. Now since this game has been programmed from the start to have split roster set up it melts very well back into this group as it never really felt cohesive with the join rosters on multiple shows. Now you can have the title set up and the wrestler set up to their independence shows and everything feels better as you are not juggling multiple rivalries on the same shows and ending up with a lot of similar matches. The new titles obviously are not present as they are a more recent object, but luckily can be downloaded from the absolute artists that is the 2K community. In that same vein the character creation Studio this year is much more in-depth and gives you a lot of options to create super detailed Recreations of your favorite Superstars, female wrestlers, or off the wall wacky creations . the Superstars in game now use the games picture as their own so your creations don't look so out of place next to a photo of the actual wrestler, and honestly this looks better. We still don't have create a finisher back yet. This year the game ditches focusing on a single Superstars career path and instead let you fight multiple individual matches, recreating in their history pretty well. I feel this is a better fit as I've never really enjoyed these modes in the past. The career mode and universe mode have been massively overhauled to add additional features and make it seemed more realistic to what the product actually is. Universe mode especially now he feels more like the television show giving you show images of a night's matches of superstars has actual promos during the shows and you can manually set run-ins and interferences Etc. I've had a lot more fun with this year's universe mode than in any previous year. This year's servers seem pretty solid and downloading is much easier as the file seems smaller so they are faster to download. But be advised if you download any custom Superstar with an abundance of logos it will corrupt your saved as this is a known issue and hopefully will be fixed. And with that said way I now lead into the negatives and front and center is the glitches this year no exception to any previous year has its fair share of problems and issues. I've already had my game hard lock on me twice once when fighting outside in the crowds almost immediately my 2 wrestlers seized up and did not do anything and at this point I had to manually shut down the game and restart it. Well I did mention the interferences and running that can be initiated in universe mode this is also slightly broken as if you break out from your entrance and attack your opponent your interference will no longer initiate if it was a pre-match interference. These are small issues but these little things are what keep this game from being truly great. The character models this year while looking the best they have yet feel slightly disjointed as some of the characters have humongous bulging eyes, and some skin textures are way off from what the actual wrestler looks like. Dana Brooke for instance looks like she is always looking horrified. Also some of the character models are clearly better than others the cover athlete this year Brock Lesnar model looks extremely detailed and amazing. I wish they had put that much effort into the entire roster or most of it to feel like a More Level field. That's not to say that most don't look great pretty much any wrestler on the roster that the company felt was valuable had the additional time and effort put into them to make them look like their alter egos. And other wrestlers on the roster suffered greatly and look like crap. Other little annoyances is that the game still puts arbitrary limitations on things that really shouldn't. I shouldn't have a limit of four titles per show in universe mode as again this is not reflective of the current product. And pay-per-views in universe mode can only be created on Sunday limiting your ability to have any type of NXT pay-per-views on Saturdays. The Rivalry system still needs some work as it continues to put your superstars in the same matches night after night with not much in the way of variety. And still can only be put in the 1v1 format or 2v2 format. But all in all for any fan this is a great game. I know I listed a lot of cons but the pros outweigh them as the game is still fun to play whether you're alone or with friends. Since 2K is still the only game in town there is not much of an option otherwise. I wish 2K would pay this series as much attention as their NBA series gets as their characters look great and gets more updated rosters. I can understand how the wrestlers require a lot more detail because they're doing a lot more movement, but I honestly can't believe that they cannot add the superstars entrance music as that is literally just adding an audio file with a name. Because of the limitations of the PS4 we still don't have any type of custom entrance music and I feel that this would make up for that.Overall this game is good but I feel it is still not where it needs to be it is missing a lot of previously available features, and by the time you play it still feels like an older game because of all the outdated rosters.

Lots Of Exclusives In This Set!
My son wanted WWE 2K17 for Christmas, but I just had to get him this version. It has all of the downloadable content (i.e. Bill Goldberg) and then some. The autographed picture and Finn Balor statue were collectible in and of themselves. He absolutely loves it.

NXT edition is awsome
The NXT edition is simply awesome. The Fin Balor statue is super nice along with the autographed Shinsuke Nakumora picture. Would have loved the seasons pass to be included but still great if you can manage to get it.

Awesome game
Absolutely loving this game! I am excited about the new features and really adds to the entire way the match flows especially for ladder and multiman matches.

Collectors may appreciate the stuff, but the game leaves a LOT to be desired.
Well, the folks at 2K have done it again. No, literally they have done it AGAIN.WWE 2K17 is an improvement over 2K16 in only one way, and that's the elimination of the superstar-centric game mode where your whole goal is to re-enact big moments from over the years for either a specific superstar or a situation. My Career mode is disappointing for a few reasons: First is the lack of inclusiveness of female wrestlers as a career option. You can still create women wrestlers in the My Universe as you have been able to do for a while, but why would this not be an option for My Career mode now?? With all the female superstars in NXT or the main roster, why would this not be available? I figured with 2K16 it was merely an issue of having so few female superstars to work with, but this year's roster is even stronger and more diverse. This is not merely a socially-motivated complaint, but I really wanted to create a female wrestler with my wife (who has been a pro wrestling fan longer than I have) because why the hell not?!?!?Second is the "Promo" section where you can cut your own promos instead of just letting the game decide when you can do promos. It's more in-depth because it's not confined to backstage with Renee Young, but you can do in-ring promos now, and that would be a really cool feature if you could, you know, actually hear your character or rival speak! Everything is done with subtitles, and it's not just lazy, but it's really irritating. They could have done this so much better.Third is the "meet the new boss, same as the old boss" booking once you're in a rivalry. I started in a tag team and after starting a rivalry with The New Day, almost every damn RAW match is Tornado Tag against them, and it's boring as hell. Then on SmackDown, you tend to fight random superstars in matches that have no reason other than the computer picked it. This is where My Universe mode will always been better than My Career is the option to create your own booking in ways that make sense. I'm a newcomer and the third or fourth week, I'm fighting Brock Lesnar in non-headline matches. It's like whatever algorithm that was created to make matches in this mode isn't even really trying. Now bearing in mind that this is the NXT edition and comes with an 8-inch figurine of Finn Balor in his Demon King persona (and that's awesome) and also comes with a piece of ring fabric from an NXT event (mine is from Takeover London 2015 and has Carmella as the star on the card) as well as a numbered, hand-autographed lithograph of the King of Strong Style himself, Shinsuke Nakamura. It also has codes for the NXT Enhancement pack which gives you more VC points to start off with as well as the NXT exclusive characters of Nia Jax, Apollo Crews and Nakamura. Now it'd be super nit-picky to give this game crap for including the current biggest star on the NXT roster as well as two wrestlers who came to the main roster before this game was released, but Jax was a recent call-up and these games are in development long before they’re released.Aside from that, the mechanics of the matches are exactly the same and they try to do some more dynamic camera angles when it comes to fighting outside the ring, but it still feels non-immersive. The post-match replays have become awful as well. I know that seems really nit-picky, but at least in the older games, they showed most of the move before the pin, but now they almost just show the pin which is super-dull. It’s one of those tiny things that can make a big difference in it seem as the “reality” of watching a live match, which is the whole damn point of these games. From a graphics standpoint, it looks both better and worse. The mouths open in grotesque fashion at times during the “promos” and looks ridiculous. Sound is also an issue. They’re also literally just taking soundbites of Lawler, JBL and Cole from earlier incarnations of the game for the announce table. They still refer to the female superstars as “Divas” quite a bit, and during women’s matches, they’ll still refer to it as if it’s a men’s match. It’s that kind of laziness that is truly bothersome. You have a year to work with the game. It’s not like those three men are so busy to record a little bit of extra dialogue.Unless the DLC that’s eventually released for the game makes a huge difference on the quality of the game or on the experience, this is a collector’s edition that may feel good to have for the extra tactile items but the game is still sorely lacking.
