Well worth the extra money, because Chinese caps are not made well and will fail because they cut corners all the time, from experience. I was installing a slow starter fro my AC to increase longevity of the AC so I decided to go ahead and replace the dual capacitor with a better one. My AC is working much more efficiently and reliably now. This cap has a lead for the compressor and the fan motor. This isolates them from each other so if your fan isn't starting move the lead. Having the compressor isolated from the fan prevents a huge spike in the current draw and prevents a failure of one causing a failure of the other.

If your condenser fan quits running and or your compressor motor isnt starting more often than not the service repair is usually the dual run capacitor.A dual "run capacitor" supports two electric motors, such as in a large air conditioner or heat pump unit, with both a fan motor and a compressor motor. It saves space by combining two physical capacitors into one case.The dual capacitor has 3 terminals labeled "C", "FAN", and "HERM", which stand for the Common, Fan, and HERMetically sealed compressor.Sometimes but not always, when a condenser fan motor is replaced, the technician may install a "single" run capacitor just for that fan motor, which would only have connections labeled common and fan, now the Dual run capacitor only supports the compressor, and the condenser fan motor will have its own single run capacitor.Dual run capacitors come in a variety of sizes, depending on the capacitance, such as 40 plus 3uf, and also the voltage. A 440 volt capacitor can be used in place of a 370 volt, but not a 370 in place of a 440 volt.The capacitance must stay the same within 5% of its original value. Dual run capacitors are commonly used for air conditioning, and or heat pump, to help in the starting of the compressor and the condenser fan motor.I installed this capacitor myself without any problems and saved a ton of money on a service repair call. I bought this us made capacitor to replace a made in China capacitor in my AC that lasted only 2 years. I was looking for something that would last a lot longer. Who wants to replace their capacitor every 2 years in the blazing summer heat? I saw that this one had a 5 year warranty. If it lasts this long, it would be worth the higher price. Only time will tell.

My central air condenser needed exactly what I purchased & the rest is history…The money I saved in doing it myself…I can do a Geico commercial😊
