STANLEY XTHT0-33501 FATMAX Autolock Tape, 8m Metric Only, Yellow/Black & STHT0-51310 20oz Fiberglass Curved Claw Hammer, 570g

I have had a few of these over the years. Great tape. One thing I find hilarious and also why I didn’t give 5 stars is that this being a metric tape measure, why in all that’s good in this world is the measurement of the tapes body written in imperial!!! Dear oh dear !!!!

3+3/8ths - Yeah this should be an automatic recall of product from Stanley, the metric Cm scale is fine, but either the tape or the body is wrong for the product, why would you not have the length of the body in mm instead of inches? Crazy and obviously missed by any form of Quality control or common sense - as for the tape measure, yeah I like it and have no problems with it, yeah it can be difficult to change the ends but I’m fine just leaving the magnetic one as I find this quite handy, but No it’s annoying and pretty useless to have that 3+3/8ths body measure, shame on you Stanley.

The tape is weighty and built reasonably well.It has clear markings (Metric ONLY)It has a strong magnet to aid measuring from magnetic surface e.g. radiator to far wall (nice touch)The locking function is just not strong enough to keep the tape from recoiling, all be it slowly but definitely frustrating.And please can somebody with more intelligence than me, explain why the dimension of the tape body has been stamped on in INCHES on a METRIC only tape. Makes internal measurements a tad inaccurate.In short, I would not recommend this product, it isn't cheap and I feel for the price the poor locking function and IMPERIAL body measurement lets it down!

Had big hopes for this device. When it arrived I was surprised how heavy it was, but I guess this is down to the tape width/length.Using it is a disappointment though. Although it claims to be self supporting for up to 3200mm, I can't get it to "hold" for much over 2500mm, and the slightest twist and it's no better that my current 18mm Magnusson tape. I find the auto-lock is really hit and miss, and similarly the release mechanism. Plus there;s only the one button, I'm used to twoThe changeable ends are a good idea though, but a mare to change !Now here's a funny point - this is a metric only measure (which I specifically wanted), but the markings on the casing to tell you how much to add on to an internal measurement are in imperial - says to add 3 3/8 of an inch !!!BIt of an oversight for a metric measure. Maybe this is part of a bad manufacturing batch (using the wrong casing) hence the discounted price.Overall, not what I was expecting from a Stanley tool.

Autolock simply doesn't lock up well at all. Works fine up to about 60cm, past that it creeps shut.This wasSwappable hook and magnet is a nice idea, but storage for the addons is very poor.Magnet is nice and strong, which is a bonus, I tend to leave it attached full time, though this does mean the hook has to be kept somewhere - the keep on the body of the tape doesn't hold it well and I've nearly lost it a couple of times.Seems solid, fell onto concrete from about 2m twice and survived with minor dents & scratches.Retraction is also poor, from a 4M extension it needs some manual assistance to retract properly and vibrates badly.Oh and the cherry on top is this METRIC only version has the body length stamped in inches & fractions.

Great tape!I've had a lot of cheap tapes over the years, and this just shows you get what you pay for.I've been using this tape for 7 months now and it's still going strong.The magnet is strong on it, holding the tapes weight when hung from an RSJ (even though I'm sure thats not what it's intended for). I found the changeable end a little superfluous, but perhaps thats just because I didn't have a use for it and ultimately lost it.All round a good metric only tape that lasts! Would buy again.

Excellent tape measure, nice and sturdy and love that it doesn't retract without switching to retract button. The two accessory blades are great, the magnetic blade is very strong and works very well, the hook over blade might have worked well but it fell off at some point was lost. The accessory holder slots could be improved to enable the accessory blades to be held securely when not in use.

At last a seriously heavy duty tape.Fantastic build quality and recoil action.My mistake when selecting this was not realising it was metric only.Although I am a decimal kid, I still have customers who quote me in inches do I have to get my phone out using a conversion app to calculate.Again, my mistake for not paying attention when choosing, but no points off for the tape.Love the additional hook too and the crazy strong magnetic end.
