It's pretty easy to pick up and learn but it will take time to learn what the best strategies are. Since the game is played going upwards you have to be aware of what is happening on all levels of play when applicable. There are 3 ways to play the game using the beginner's, standard, or advanced rules for play. The beginner's rules I think are great for young children learning how to play. The standard rules are great for adults playing their first few games. The advanced rules definitely give the game a lot more strategies and make you really pay attention to what is happening on the board. The board is not very large but it is well made. It's a great game to play. It's essentially a game of resource conservation. It's pretty easy to pick up and learn but it will take time to learn what the best strategies are. Theres nothing to not like about this great and beautifully crafted game. Easy to learn and teach, and makes a wonderful table decor and conversation piece when not in use. High quality wood board is just GORGEOUS to look at, and perfectly stained.
