I don't actually know, but what I do know is I have worn both types, and this type is definitely smaller, as they are cone shaped. So they narrow at one end, and it's the narrow end that enters your ear first. This part is smaller than the normal foam type earplugs. I would say the Alpine earplugs are also softer, which will be better for you. I think I would give them a try, as they are brilliant! Also, I didn't realise until recently that they actually have a shelf life of a few months, but I've been using mine for 2 years without any issues!
