104KEY PS2 Keyboard Black Wmembrane

This think was like typing with numb fingers, there was no feedback, no resistance you could feel, just rubber. I don't know what happened to Keytronic they really used to be quite amazing for feel and feedback.

The keyboard has a nice shape, and my fingers feel like they're resting in the proper positions. But the "r" key has developed a problem after only 1 week of usage: it sometimes doesn't register, and I have to press down harder than any other keys. Also, the left shift key doesn't depress if I push down on the right side of it. The left shift key doesn't have any problems. A dissapointing purchase.

I had purchased the same Keytronic Designer keyboard around 1996 or 1997 and loved it at the time. The keyboard lasted at least 8 years, during which I had taken all the keys off and cleaned the entire keyboard at least twice. Alas, I ended up spilling some water or soda on it, and it met its demise.At the time, I was under the impression that USB was a faster, better interface, and ended up buying a native USB keyboard. However, for a keyboard, this is is definitely a misconception, and provided you have a PS/2 port and don't need to hot swap keyboards, PS/2 is still a great interface. In this time, I had forgotten about my Keytronic Designer, but once I saw Amazon had them, and at a fair price, I decided to pick one up.So I have a new Keytronic Designer keyboard, same as my last one. For a membrane keyboard, it's better than most. However, the Backspace key sticks a little bit, especially if you try and depress it on the far left side of the key. While I type fairly well, I use backspace enough that it has become very annoying. This problem does not affect any of the other keys, and after using the keyboard for 2+ weeks, I see little to no improvement. One of the other reviewers had a similar problem with one of the shift keys, so it's not unique to me. I tried swapping the Backspace key with one of the other keys, I think the left Shift key, and it did not fix the problem, so the issue is with the actual keyboard mold and not the key cap itself. If it was a key cap problem, it would be easy to simply request a replacement keycap from Keytronic; they had previously sent me a few keycaps for free when I had broken one while cleaning my previous keyboard. Also, the characters/labels on the key caps are poorly printed on, and have visibly started to fade after several weeks. This isn't an issue for me as I know my layout very well, but could be for others.I will likely either ask for a replacement or a refund for this keyboard, and rate it at 3 stars instead of 4 due to the problem with the Backspace key. I would still prefer it to most other membrane keyboards, but am currently considering and testing higher end mechanical keyboards using Cherry switches. Too bad Amazon doesn't carry Filco, Ducky, Leopold, and Topre, which are great mechanical keyboards but are hard to find in the US.

Here we have a decently priced, tactile but not clicky, classic keyboard that should last a long time.It is quieter than the e3601 but has a heavier and more linear feel to the keys.It's appearance is a bit deceptive as it really isn't heavy as it looks and the rubber pads prevent it from sliding.It is nicely sloped and fits well on the keyboard shelf.This keyboard replaced a Microsoft gaming keyboard that was getting too mushy.Con: the left Shift key seems sticky and the Backspace has a different feel to it and makes a slight click.I have owned a variety of inexpensive keyboards and this one is sure to outlast many of them as it is rated to 30 million strokes per key.I considered a mechanical keyboard but I am quite happy with this one and will save my dollars.I believe that this particular keyboard or even a 3601 is a good upgrade over the typical dome keyboard.The Ergo technology does a good job of making the case for varied key weights which is not found on other keyboards, except for one very expensive brand. For those interested, you can find the Ergo mapping on their site and see that most of the letter keys are in the light category of 35-45-55gm of activation force needed which is fairly light, much lighter than many mechanical keyboards. A good purchase that makes typing easier on the hands.

I have a Keytronic (white one) with similar key layout that I have used reliably for I would estimate over 10 years and at least 6 computer systems! It is crazy....the thing is/was a tank(actually heavier than this one). It still worked perfectly - although it was kinda grimy and dirty now (you can only get these things so clean). I am very picky with keyboards, and hate the cheap, flimsy/mushy keys on most modern systems.I wanted to improve on the tactile response, feel, and possibly reduce the sound of the clicking/keys. With my fingers sometimes getting stiff, typing was causing increasing fatigue. Also, when on conference calls my typing was too obvious :) Decided to give this one a shot.This keyboard met all my expectations. If it is great! I can type faster, it is slightly less noisy....clean as new, and best of all -- the keys feel much better to my fingers :)Definitely brand allegiance for this class of keyboard with Keytronic. I suspect I will not need another for a long time.UPDATE 9/15/11: Well after only a couple weeks...the spacebar key started to stick......wow didn't expect this quality issue.... I am hoping it will clear up after a few more cycles on it.....maybe this is a defective unit... Maybe this issue is basic to the keyboard build-quality and durability in general. Bouncing the stars down to 3, as this type of quality control and/or reliability is not good.UPDATE 6/5/12: The problem with the spacebar had cleared up very quickly. Keyboard has been perfect .....must have been a glitch that worked itself out. Very happy...back to 5 Stars
