Favorite gloves.
Gill products never disappoint. I retired from sailing several years ago but I still buy Gill sailing gloves for working around home. They fit well and I am able to pick up small objects like screws, nuts, bolts, washers, etc., while wearing them. They make great motorcycle gloves for warm weather too.

Compare and Contrast - Gill vs. MRX Sailing Gloves
I've got both these Gill gloves, and the MRX sailing gloves (both are the 2-finger versions, in XL), so this will be more of a compare and contrast review.. Thought that would be more helpful and interesting.. Both are very comfortable gloves, and fit me well.. The fingers are a touch longer in the Gills, which is okay with me, but I have long fingers. I can feel the ends of the finger tips in the MRX, but barely.. I kinda prefer that though, so the Gill fingers may be a bit too long for some people.. Also, the Gills seem to be a bit "stiffer" when flexing them, but perhaps as they break-in more, that'll work itself out.. The MRX gloves are more flexible out-of-the bag, and I prefer that flexibility.. The padding in the MRX gloves are thicker but softer, and have a rubberized pattern in the palm that offers a better grip. The Gill gloves are thinner in the palm, but I suspect that it's also a bit more durable material than the MRX gloves.. So kind-of a trade-off, but I do prefer the better grip.. I haven't gotten either wet while sailing yet, so can't speak to how they work wet, or drying time, but I ran both under a faucet for 5 seconds, as a test.. The water beaded-up and ran off the back of the Gills, and the MRX glove backs absorbed the water... So there's that.. The Gills definitely win that one... Both gloves seem to be well made, with perfect stitching and quality materials.. ~Maybe~ the Gill is a better quality glove overall, but I also might just want to believe that because I paid about twice as much for them.. Anyway, that's about all I can think of mentioning about these gloves... As I sail in the colder months, I plan to wear the 2-finger MRX gloves as my primary cold-weather sailing gloves, for the better grip and flexibility, but if they get splashed or wet for any reason, I'll immediately switch over to the Gills, and be glad I have them... I just prefer the MRX gloves a bit more than the Gills (unless they get wet), and at about half the price, I don't mind wearing them out faster....if they even do wear out faster.. Not sure yet.. We shall see.. I took off one point in the rating for less-than-great grippiness and flexibility, but these Gills are definitely a quality glove... But at the price, I'm just not sure if I would buy again.. Regardless, hope this review helps someone... UPDATE: Okay, this is the second cold-weather season I'm going through, and just wanted to update my prior comments... I primarily wear the Gill gloves now, as they are nicely broken in now, and fit great.. The black palm material is holding up really well, seems bulletproof, and has become easier to work now.. But clearly, going by pictures, I'm not as hard on gloves as some.. OTOH, as a couple of folks pictures show, that light grey material in the upper palms does not hold up well at all... I actually sewed protective patches over the upper palm area of both gloves, or I'm sure mine will "blow-out" there too, as they have with others... They were clearly thinning-out some there.. It's nice soft synthetic leather, but it just does not hold up.. Both the MRX gloves and the Gills have now proven to show me they are not water-proof at all... The MRX gloves are bit warmer (the palms are thicker but softer material), so when the Gills get wet (I primarily work foredeck - and they do), I'm glad to have a warm dry pair as my back-up.. Overall, I ~do~ like the Gills, but I ~would~ buy the MRX gloves again, and not sure I would say the same for the Gills.. I would now just buy two pairs of the MRX gloves, and be glad I have a spare pair..

A Good Pair
Love this glove! I used it while working as mate on Dinner Cruises. It stands up to the use. I have multiple pairs for both commercial and recreational boating.

Hand saver for competitive sailing
My daughter wears them. They save her hands, literally. She is on a college sailing team. She needs them to sail at her best. These gloves are replacement gloves. The first pair lasted 4 year.

Seaworthy
I went on a sailing vacation this past summer on Cape Cod. As a deck hand on a sailboat, I needed to grab lines (ropes) and other gear without injuring my hands. These gloves are made specifically for such a purpose and hold up well to the tasks at hand. The material is durable and well constructed, which allow them to be comfortable enough for several hours of use. They hold up well to sea water, but, as expected, need to be rinsed out after use. No complaints. These gloves allowed me to get the job done without distraction or discomfort. I would buy them again.

Marca sempre vincente!
