Replacement Rain Barrel Screen and Brass Spigot Kit

I bought this screen/spigot combo (at the suggestion of another poster) to replace the plastic spigot and the plastic screen that came with my rain barrel (RTS Home Accents Flat Back Eco Rain Barrel, black). The screen fits perfectly and just sets in and doesn't need to be screwed in, making it easy to add the anti-mosquito tablets. The spigot seems well made and much more heavy-duty compared to the plastic spigot that came with the barrel. Install was easy, too. So far the spigot performs as expected. Speedy delivery of both, well packaged for shipping. I highly recommend these products if you are looking to upgrade from the stock plastic parts.

The plastic faucet provided with the rain barrel seemed a bit shabby and did start to drip a week or two after I set up the rain barrel. Most replacement spigots require the installer to have access to the inside of the rain barrel to place a threaded nut over the pipe that protrudes into the rain barrel. This new spigot from RTS does not require that the installer have access to the internal portion of the spigot for successful installation. The new screen is also superior to the originally provided plastic screen. Good upgrades for this rain barrel.

Bought this kit because I could not find a replacement spigot (only) on Amazon. If you need the screen too that is fine. I did not. The faucet is cheaply made but it is not that expensive. So one has to decide whether that will meet the need. For me it was okay.

I needed a new spigot because the plastic handle that came with my rain barrel broke off. I liked that this was brass and had a rod style shut off instead of a wheel style. It fit on my barrel perfectly, and for some reason the water pressure is stronger when it comes out of the barrel. I can only attribute that to this spigot, as nothing else has changed. I screwed a T on the end, and put 2 soaker hoses on to go in each direction of my flower beds and my roses are VERY happy. The plastic screen that came with my rain barrel was meant to be screwed on, which was a pain to remove to drop in the anti-mosquito disks every month, so, I tossed the screws and laid the metal mesh screen that came with this spigot over the plastic screen and now all I have to do is lift the wholee thing off every month. I am happy with both items in this package.

I got these with the first two rain barrels I ordered, then got some flimsy plastic ones that screwed in on the second two I ordered. I got these for the second two - and they're perfect. I used silicone aquarium sealant to fix them in place, and blow off any debris with a leaf blower.

I like the screen because once it breaks down like screens eventually do, I can replace the screen like you would a window screen.However, I couldn't buy the screen by itself like I wanted to. The spigot had to be included in the package which raised the price to $30. But I needed the screen, so I bought it.

It is great. Heavy duty so it won't break like the plastic stuff you get when you buy the rain barrels. If I buy more barrels I would definately order these at the same time.

The grate that keeps leaves and bugs from getting in my rain barrel started to fall apart and then mysteriously disappeared. I think a squirrel stole it. The replacement grate fits perfectly. I don't need a new spigot, but it is nice to have.
