unless you get it in a good deal like using your rewards there are much more sophisticated kettles out there that could be a better option. I got it because I love how it looks. I always wanted a smeg. I had rewards I could use and get it for less. I hope it will justify the price. I keep my old one, just to be on the safe side.

I love my tea pot! It is a little heavy, but works great and is soooo attractive sitting on my counter!

This kettle is GORGEOUS abd I’ve wanted one for years. Finally saved up my pennies to buy one but after reading the reviews decided to also shell out for the 4-yr extended warranty. I’m SO glad I did - eight months later the seal around the lid went, as well as the open-lid button. The reviews said this was the most common part that breaks, and it did! We used Smeg’s own warranty for that claim and they sent us a new kettle. But their warranty only lasts one year. $180 for a kettle that wont last beyond a year isn’t worth it; the extra $30 or so to have it last five years? Worth every penny.

I saved up and splurged on this SMEG tea kettle as a reward to myself. I don’t usually spend this kind of money on a kitchen item, but I was so excited and proud to have it. It looked beautiful in my kitchen and I genuinely loved it. That’s why I’m so crushed to see a huge air bubble form on the side. It looks like a defect in the finish, and now the kettle is making strange popping/crackling noises in that area as well. For something at this price point, this shouldn’t be happening. This wasn’t just a kettle to me — it was a special purchase. I’m incredibly disappointed that the quality hasn’t matched the price.

My wife is a dedicated tea drinker and has had many electric teapots. Her friend had one of these at her house and my wife fell in love with the Euro/Art Deco style of this tea kettle. When you have been married as long as we have and are looking for Christmas presents (for someone who has everything) this might be the gift. Seems very well made and heats quickly (but not really any faster than the $35 models). You are buying this for the look and the style.
