Ok. So I have been using these, along with their separately purchased leave in conditioner, for a month now. I have type 2B-2C, medium course, fairly thick, no dyes/no heat styling, naturally gray(but it is actually blonde, who knew?), 60 year old, Irish girl wavy/curly hair. My honest review: it smells nice, but not overpowering and it doesn't hang around all day. It feels nice on your hair and rinses clean. The conditioner is pretty good at doing the job. The curl cream is good, but don't over-do it, especially if you also used a leave-in conditioner first. A little goes a long way if you apply to appropriately wet hair and brush it through well. My hair is left feeling soft, not weighed down, not frizzy, and managable. I will be buying this again and I would recommend it to family and friends. And, I actually love the leave-in conditioner and will be using it exclusively, even if I use other shampoo/conditioners.

I finally broke down and trusted a hairdresser with my curly hair. The ones I've found in my area require a 11/2 hour consultation at $145 per hour. And that's before they touch your hair! I can't imagine what the actual hair cut cost!! I saw a woman in the grocery store with beautiful curls. I asked where she got her hair done. She was so happy with her hairdresser, and put her in my phone contacts. Prior to my appointment, I needed a new curl enhancer cream. My local drug store had Cake products on sale, so I bought the cream to try. I loved it! After my cut, and using the cream, my curls really popped! They were defined and frizz free. I ordered the Cake trio. I read.the reviews, and was a little concerned about the horrible odor some people noticed. I used the shampoo, conditioner, and cream ,and didn't smell a thing. But I have pretty much lost my sense of smell due to a bout with Covid. So I had family members sniff my hair, and the products, and they didn't smell anything! My advice to curly people is to start with a good cut. Use good products, like Cake! Most curly hair is dry. In the winter, I wash it once a week. You don't need a lot of shampoo or lather to clean. About a quarter size dot in your hand. Gently massage rinse well. Leave conditioner on as long as possible, while you do your other shower stuff. On non shampoo days I get my hair wet, and use the cream to style. I sometimes just use the conditioner on days I don't shampoo if it seems a little dry and then the cream on my wet hair. I love these products and recommend them to all my curly friends!

I like the conditioner and the leave in, they both smell great and provide adequate moisture. It could be a little more moisturizing for me. What I don’t like is the shampoo. It cleanses fine, but it smells weirdly like stale cigarettes miked with cake. I grosses me out too much to use.

This smells horrible. Its supposed to be a lemon cookie scent, but it smells nothing like that. I cannot even describe the scent. I used the shampoo, conditioner and also the gel to foam today. All smell bad. However, my curls did turn out better today. I am still working on my curly routine including products and best styling techniques. I have fine wavy/curly hair. The shampoo and conditioner worked well. The gel to foam didn't leave my hair sticky and gave nice curls. I will keep using to see if it works, but the smell may hinder that.

If you do read the other reviews, they do mention that it has a very lemon scent which literally says on the bottle that it has a lemon cake scent I really like how the bottles that they’re very cute. See the cold cream is very good too. It’s not the best but it’s also not bad at all. If you just want something simple I would say try it for your hair. See if you like it for me it’s not drying nor doesn’t make my hair feel damaged

The smell to me isn't bad but I don't love it. It smells like a lemon cake. The scent is strong but goes away quickly before I even rinse it out. My hair feels very clean after, maybe a little too squeaky clean but it doesn't feel dry. The conditioner feels heavy when applied but rinses immediately leaving zero residue. For me this is not a problem because I also use a leave in and have super short hair. When I had long hair it would have been a problem because it doesn't leave any slip. If I don't use any other products in my hair my curl pattern literally disappears which is very odd because even straightening my hair doesn't get rid of the curl pattern, especially in the back. It's left with a slight wave. I would love to know what ingredient is doing this. The curl cream is heavy and leaves my hair sticky with a weird film. My curl pattern does return with the curl cream. I will not continue using the cream because my regular mousse (the doux mousse def) does a much better job with no residue. With only the shampoo and conditioner my hair is soft and I have little to no frizz which is a plus because I struggle with frizz. Because my hair is so short I will continue to use it but I will never buy it again because I like my curl pattern and don't really know what to do with my hair without it.

I got these at the very beginning of my curl journey and these were amazing. I actually was taken aback by the smell at first, but I love the smell now I use these all the time and I love that. It came in a set now I ordered them separately because the shampoo and conditioner lasts a lot longer than the curl cream. I switched from the Cantu brand to this brand and I love cake, beauty. I also pair these products with Umberto Giannini.

First the smell is awful. I can’t even describe the smell. And I can’t see any difference in my curls. I’ve had better success with products from Walmart or the dollar general than these. Don’t recommend.

WHAT!?!??? WOW!!!! I was wanting to buy this product for a while now but I kept putting it off because I have so many others. I should have bought this way earlier but I'm glad I bought it now and this is my now go to curl shampoo and conditioner. It smells absolutely amazing and the smell stays in the hair. It looks pretty which doesn't really matter but it looks good. Wanted to just try the shampoo and conditioner with no product and no routine to see what it did to my hair and how it felt. I have wavy curly hair and I can't even believe what just the shampoo and conditioner did to my hair with no routine or product. I have ringlets I literally brushed my hair once and let it air dry and my hair is Curly and wavy and soft and beautiful and this is the most my hair has ever curled like this. BUY BUY BUY!!! 10/10 Highly recommend

My daughter is the one with curls and she loves it. That’s all that needs to be said.

So far so good. Shampoo provides a ton of lather and conditioner does the job. I wouldn't say it's super moisturizing, and does not have a ton of slip. Scent wise I was disappointed, I had hoped for the same lemon smell as the styling products. I do really enjoy the curl cream and how my curls look after use. Overall this is a nice basic set for the price.

Now I don't have curly hair, but I do have some natural wave and wanted to see if this would give it a boost and boy did it. Shampoo lathers well, conditioner be cautious on how much you use a little goes a long way, and the curl defining same thing a little goes a long way. I just let my hair air dry, and i get some good wave action, way more than without it. My only thing is the smell, not a fan of the "lemon cookie" scent. It doesn't smell like lemon or cookie....whoever made up the scent might want to get their nose checked!!

I really love Cake beauty brand. The hair products are really good on my curls. I was using (Marc Anthony curls) before and I just didn't like my hair feeling crunchy after using the hair cream. I found cake defining curl cream was much better for my ringlet curls. This shampoo won't give you curls. This is a shampoo made for super tight ringlet curly hair and it helps protect beautiful lock curls.
