Awesome little gadget!
I can't say enough good things about the Paratuss Penguin. I use it everyday in my guitar repair shop @ Sam Ash Music in Nashville, TN. I work on about 50 guitars, basses and banjos a week and the Penguin goes almost an entire week on one charge! It charges via USB which makes it green in my book. The only problem I have with it is that I can't seem to find a vendor who sells it and communication with Paratuss is almost nil. If you can find one, get it! You won't be disappointed!

Paratuss
9/10/15- I'm glad to see Paratuss is still making this winder. Just not sure why it would be $179. I had contacted Paratuss a few years ago to see if they would upgrade the motor speed to 600RPMs for us pros who string a lot of guitars every week. While the Penguin appears to be made better than the $30. E.Ball peg winder, it's still only 200RPMs of winding speed which is just too slow for me to do pro work. The RYOBI TEK4 4V Rechargeable Screwdrivers (either the HP53L or the brand new HP44L) are the way to go (beware of the refirbished units, and I believe the HP53L has been discontinued). They are both small, powerful and inexpensive ($24-$40.), they both switch between 200 or 600RPMs and are durable enough for pro work. Both are much smaller than a cordless drill, so they're friendlier to have near your customer's priceless guitars. And if you use hex shank drill bits, you can easily drill with it. I can even drill through a tail block with this, then pop in my peg adaptor, switch to 600RPMs, and string the guitar up. Like the Paratuss and E. Ball winders, the Ryobi trigger is not variable speed, just on -off. The Ryobi TEK4 IS "the" perfect guitar bench winder/drill for any pro guitar tech. Until Paratuss makes a true dedicated pro winder at a better price point, the Ryobis are definitely something to consider. Hope this helps.

Still keeps on turnin'
coming up on 2 years now and it's still doing a great job. design is nice - feels comfortable to hold. The usb-rechargeable battery lasts when I forget to charge it. No regrets on this one
