Felted Bags: 30 Original Bag Designs to Knit and Felt

First said, I love the process of knitting to felting (a.k.a. fulling). That being said, I was already familiar with some of Alice Underwood and Sue Parker designs through the online site of Ravelry. For me, this book is a jumping off point- I may not always agree with color choices or embellishments- the pattern shapes and designs overall hold a great deal of possibility. From my point of view, this is not a book to make an exact copy of the bag shown- it's an inspiration guide (with instructions) on how to make knitting into an entirely new shape and fabric that is truly your own.

A common complaint I read about pattern books, is that the best is on the cover. That accurately describes this book. Of the 30 bags, I would make two of them.

This book has 30 felted bag patterns and they are all beautiful. Most of them are quite different from other patterns that I have. I have made 2 bags from this book, and abandoned one other after a bad start. Some of the bag shapes are a bit hard to work with (I am not an advanced knitter) and maybe even a little arty for me. But there are enough great possibilities here to keep me coming back for ideas for my next project.

I had really looked forward to getting this book as I love making felted bags. However, there is only one bag in the whole book that I would even consider making and that's the one shown on the cover. All the others are dismally out of style or similar to free patterns one can find on the internet. Very disappointed and returning the book.

Great price, I love to make felted bags. It has alot of fun bags in it. Easy to read and follow the patterns.

As a new knitter, this book offers some good patterns. Haven't tried any of the patterns yet, so can't say how the bags ultimately turn out, but the patterns are clearly written.

THIS BOOK HAS SO MANY GREAT PURSE PATTERNS. I MADE TWO IMMEDIATELY, AND AM ABOUT TO START A THIRD. GOOD DIRECTIONS, UNUSUAL PATTERNS.

I like this book because of the wide range of 'ideas' it contains, and although some are not to my taste, there are a few bags that I will try.The book is set out well and I particularly like the two page spread of contents with photographs of each bag, making it easy to see at a glance the very varied styles.Most of the bags are small. I think it is a useful starting point if you are wanting to design your own bags as there are examples of several different ways of making and attaching handles which you could then experiment with in your own way.

Good Buy

The bags have easy to follow patterns with comprehensive instructions. I like the alternative colours and yarns, which are helpful when choosing appropriate wools to use.

Some wonderful bags I can actually envisage making. So many ideas to craft and enjoy.
