🌲 Split Like a Pro with Seymour!
The Seymour SM-8FG is an 8-pound, 36-inch wood splitting maul designed for efficiency and power. Its specialized blade is crafted to split wood rather than cut, while the heavy sledge end enhances striking force. The polished and beveled edges ensure a clean split, making it an essential tool for any woodworker or outdoor enthusiast.

Great maul, splits wood like its butter
My old maul, which I literally found on my property and fitted with a new handle took a lot of effort to split rounds (24+" red oak rounds). This mauls splits them apart with ease. I had to change my technique since I was so used to having to hank the maul out of the round multiple times to get it to split. This one worked like so well I was honestly surprised at how effective my first swing was.

Pretty solid
As advertised, solid construction, works well. My only complaint would be that it has a rubber section at the base of the head that will easily get torn up when splitting larger rounds. Otherwise, seems to be holding up well after about 2 months of use.

Works but didn't last -- probably my fault
It certainly works, and absorbs shock pretty well, but after only 3 months and maybe 2 cords of wood the head detached from the handle. The resin or whatever just crumbled away. So that means $20 for a new handle. I did use a sledgehammer to drive the maul into larger round occasionally, which may be improper use? I don't recommend doing that if you want it to last.

Would not recommend!! Discontinued by the manufacture for a reason
Worked well till the head fell off. Split about 3 cords of wood. 2 cords of madrone and a cord of cedar. Would not recommend!! Discontinued by the manufacture for a reason! Using my old true temper 8 lb, it's about to fall off the handle w 30+ cords on it. It will still out last this hunk of junk and it's broken

My axe of choice!!!
Yeah...this is an AWESOME axe!!!! It is just what I wanted! It has the weight and center of gravity to provide excellent cuts. It is durable and easy to sharpen. I do use a wood burning fire place and often chop wood from logs of various sizes. Don't by the axe from Sears...it didn't hold up!//Chuck

Looks Impressive But Its Not !
Looks nice but after its first few wood splits, the fiberglass handle is loose at the maul head!! I would not recommend it! Going back to my regular wooden handle maul. Dennis

Well designed, but concerned about that rubber piece
This arrived yesterday and I used it for 1/2 hour or so. I like the shape of the handle. It is oval so the head naturally faces straight down. The head is fairly standard design and splits well. I am concerned that the rubber right beneath where the head attaches to the handle is vulnerable. Already it is showing some minor tears. I'm hoping that the exposed rubber is purely cosmetic and that the maul will stay put without it.

Works great
Good heavy maul. I've split several chords with it so far and its holding up great. My last maul was 5 lbs, so this was a bit of a change, but it seems to do a good job so far.

Okay, not great
This maul is okay, but it doesn't have the best profile on the head for effective splitting. There is definitely better ones available.
