Works well, arrived on time
My daughter is an aspirator and needs all liquids thickened. I was so excited to find a thickener with a short ingredient list, not full of chemicals, and organic to boot! She's also severely allergic to dairy and soy, and has had no problems with it. It just made her a little gassy at first, so I'd suggest switching to it slowly. You save money ordering through Prime versus from Gelmix directly because their shipping was a little high, plus, you get it faster. It is a little more involved to use than the thickener from the drugstore, which I just added to even cold drinks and it thickened up almost instantly.Gelmix, you do need to heat your liquid, mix it thoroughly (I've found vigorous shaking works well if you're preparing for use immediately and only have warm water), and give it a good 10 minutes to set up, but with such higher quality ingredients, I'm okay with this.I did have to experiment with it a little to find the right consistency for my daughter (I have to add at least an extra scoop to 8 oz with anything), but she is a severe aspirator to the point she can barely drink anything at all. I imagine for typical thickened liquids, their directions would be fine.It seems a little pricy at first, but you use a tiny amount, maybe a 1/4-1/3 compared to other thickeners I've used, so it really does go a very long way.

This seems to work alright with breast milk and is a great alternative to other thickeners with cows milk
have a kiddo with some eating problems, who did not do 100% on the study. This seems to work alright with breast milk and is a great alternative to other thickeners with cows milk. Tip that i have learned is to make sure that the milk is hot enough so that the gelmix does not ball up. If I had a suggestion for the manufacturer, please understand that this is being used very often for babies learning to eat, and it might be helpful to have smaller scoop sizes in there. Ours is on 'nectar thick' and we use about half a scoop per ounce... we worked this out with the speech therapist.

The container instructions says mix with lukewarm liquid then leave it to cool down to thicken
This is crazy! I'm trying this for my baby's formula since he spits up and vomits frequently. The container instructions says mix with lukewarm liquid then leave it to cool down to thicken. First I try to do with lukewarm formula I get lumps all inside my bottle and the gelmix didn't dissolve!! I tried he second time with even warmer formula, same problem. I tried with formula mixed with BOILED water just now and still the same problem!!!! This is not a cheap product to be fooled with and ok to throw away the money. Aside from the fact I was so looking forward to fixing my baby's problem!!

Thank God for this!
Helps tremendously with my micro preemie's reflux. It was so bad that it would gag her and cause her to projectile vomit frequently. We had to sit her up with blankets all around her and keep her as still as possible for an hour after her bottles and sometimes even that didn't help. Now, (knock on wood) she hasn't thrown up in weeks! We noticed an immediate improvement. I love that it is organic as well!!Downside is that is caused her a lot of constipation. I'd recommended adding a little prune juice and water, that helps our daughter to keep a balance without using any extra medicine. It does take a while to make bottles now, they have to be pretty hot for the mixture to work without clumping (clumping causes clogs if you're using Dr. Brown's bottles) so it takes a while to cool. We've gotten to where we pop it in the freezer after we do our second shake to mix it up. It is absolutely worth the wait.

Used for thickening sons bottles
We used this for 6 months while my son needed his bottles thickened. It was one of the only approved choices for his age. Worked great- always arrived on time.

Incredible, but pricey
This thickener has been an absolute godsend for our son with swallowing issues. As a two month old he ate so little he was losing weight, then the first week on Gelmix he started eating and gaining. My only complaint is the price, and it's inconsistency. A month ago when we went to order it was $39+shipping, two weeks ago it was $37. Now it's jumped up to $49. When my son uses two tubs a month this makes it really hard to plan a budget!

A lifesaver for our baby with feeding issues
Gelmix has been a huge component of keeping our daughter, who has GERD, healthy and gaining weight in her first year of life. None of the downsides of thickening feeds with cereals--she has no gut irritation with Gelmix, doesn't experience constipation as she did with cereals. She also is able to eat more ounces with Gelmix because it does not add bulk/calories to her feeds, it just changes the consistency. She is 13 months old and has been using Gelmix for about 9 months with no ill effects.
