🏁 Race Ready, Speed Steady!
The Polished Derby Axles by Pinewood Pro are engineered for optimal performance in pinewood derby races. These axles feature a lathing process that eliminates crimp marks and burrs, a polished shaft to reduce friction, and an angled head design that further minimizes contact friction. Officially legal for all races, these axles are a must-have for any serious competitor looking to enhance their car's speed.

Great axles, worth the money!
I lot of the axles I found online were highly reflective and/or had a flat head notch on the head… it would be blatantly obvious that I purchased them. These axles were the perfect balance between polished and functional. My cars placed! I’m happy with the purchase. Thanks!

Nicely polished axles.
The axels are nicely polished and were slightly larger in diameter than the ones that came with the kit. I would buy them again.

Close not quite
I took off one star because the Polish was not a mirror finish but the good news is it didn’t take much to get it there on my own. I’d say these axles took about 30 minutes per axel off the polishing process so the time savings was worth it.

Great results
Before our race I was skeptical about these axles. Altough the inside heads of the nails were filed smooth they did not appear to be tapered in any way. Also, when I compared a stock axle to these when free spinning a wheel on it there was very little difference in how long the wheel (same wheel by the way) would spin. Anyway, this was my first derby and I'm not a craftsman by any stretch. I followed the basic wedge design, weight in the rear, yadda yadda yadda stuff, and our car not only won our pack race by a landslide but set a record for our track. The guy who runs the thing said our car could very well win the district finals with the times/speed he was recording. I didn't do anything extraordinary to the car so at the very least I have to say these axles did nothing to hurt the performance and probably helped given the results. And for a little over 10 bucks they saved me a lot of time and frustration, which is worth the price right off the bat. Suffice it to say I'll be buying them again next year.

but for me was worth the time saved and the happy cub for not coming in last again this year
My son won his den and was one of the fastest cars overall. My daughter had a similar car and I tried to sand her axles myself. Big difference in how much faster his was than hers. Next year, I'll get both these kind of axles. I rolled them in graphite before installing and put graphite on before turning in to pit. Price is a bit high, but for me was worth the time saved and the happy cub for not coming in last again this year.

Not great, better than bone stock axles
Bought two sets of these just to try them on an Outlaw class car recently. They’re not great - several thousandths slower than just polishing my own axles. They seem to be overworked, slightly smaller diameter than correctly polished axles, allowing a little bit of wheel chatter. That said, if you don’t have any tools or the ability to polish a set yourself, these will run better than stock axles. I will probably throw them on a few of my just for fun/exhibition cars where speed doesn’t really matter.

Do You Want an Advantage?
When your child is competing in the Pinewood Derby you want them to perform the best. One area that is often overlooked is the axles. From the factory they have stamping ridges that rub against the wheel and cause unnecessary friction so a common practice is to clean these op. Without the proper tools this is an impossible task.Luckily you can purchase these axles and make your life easy! Worth every penny, these axles came fully polished and fit all the rules of the BSA and the pack. These shaved time off of my child's run and he took 2nd place! I will order these every year!

Saved me hours of polishing time
These little jewels really make a difference in speed. We used to polish the nails for hours. This year we did not have the time to spend polishing so I got these. They were straight. No burrs. This year’s car was the fastest at 205mph and I think the nails made a large amount of the difference.
