I'm a little confused. does this work on a usb cable alone or usb cable plus aux cable?

Power is via USB, sound and microphone are via aux. The speaker and microphone use separate aux cords, so you have use the speaker without the microphone.

Will it still work, if you plug the usb to a display port?
