Interesting book.

A beautiful little book
Leo Hickey (1941-2013) was an eminent paleobotanist at Yale University. This slim volume is an overview of the evolutionary history of woody plants. It is not a treatise on petrified wood, not a guide for rockhounds. Instead, it is a history of plant life on earth, including interactions with animals, written with clarity and elegance. Very well illustrated with many B&W photos and drawings,

Nice book
This is an OK book for me but maybe better for a novice "rock hound".
