56 Adorable Original Animals Designs with cute doodle elements – printed one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. This is a really fun and cute coloring book filled with 56 different original designs by Jane Maday. There are so many animals in this book, including: dogs, cats, frog, fox, birds, horse, butterfly, fish, rabbits, and so much more. The animals are generally set in a background which can be as simple as a few flowers or more elaborate. Some of the animals include doodle elements while others are line drawings. The designs are generally detailed but are not overly intricate or difficult to color. The book is well published with one small nit. In some cases, the designs cross over the perforations near the binding and you will lose some portion of the design if you remove it from the book. In some cases it causes the symmetry of the design to be lost. You can remove pages in whole by snipping the sewn binding, so I didn't detract stars from this remove for this issue. This is what I found while coloring in this book and testing the paper with my coloring medium:37 Cute Original Animals Designs by Jane MadayPrinted on one side of the pagePaper is heavyweight, white, smooth and perforatedSewn BindingSome designs merge over the perforations and some designs merge into the binding areaAlcohol-based markers bleed through this paperWater-based markers can leave shadows on the back of the page. I had this issue with both Stabilo 88, and Staedler triplus fineliners ultra-fine nib markers. My Tombows brush end did not leave shadows.Gel pens and India ink pens did not leak through the page.Colored pencils work well with the paper. Though it was smooth to the touch, it still had enough tooth to get good pigment with multiple layers of same color, layered well with multiple colors and blended well using a pencil style blender stick. I found that oil based and water-based pencils did equally well.I use a blotter page of card stock or several sheets of heavyweight paper below my working page. That keeps seeping ink from damaging the pages below.

Cute, cute, cute!
I'm an animal lover but generally don't enjoy coloring them in coloring books. But I saw someone post pictures from this book and decided to give it a chance.First of all, WOW this has a lot of pages to color! I was expecting something similar to other comparable books. This book is about twice as thick as many others! (Think Creative Haven and Dover books.) The designs inside are fun and whimsical, yet not so detailed that it requires a super steady hand or magnifying glass. This book reminds me a lot of the style seen in Color Me Your Way, with a little less detail and realism. (I highly recommend Color Me Your Way books if you enjoy coloring animals!) There are a variety of animals included, with plenty of birds, fish, butterflies, and small critters as well as a few dogs, cats, and a horse. The paper in this book is better than average. It doesn't have any noticeable tooth, but is thicker than average. It's not as thick as books like Johanna Basford's Enchanted Forest/Secret Garden/Magical Jungle, but it's thicker than many others you'll find. The paper texture may not accept a lot of layers of pencils (especially if you don't color lightly), but Polychromos, Pablo, and Prismacolor Premier all go on super smooth and blend easily. It's also only printed on ONE SIDE of the page! This means that as long as you put a blotter page behind what you're coloring, you can use virtually any kind of media including markers and water media. The page may wrinkle some with a lot of water, but I don't think there will be any problem using watercolor pencils/Inktense while wetting it sparingly. Finally, the pages are perforated. This is a nice feature but not one I specifically look for in a book. If you're someone who likes to tear the pages out to color, this makes it very easy! If you're someone like me who prefers keeping all your pictures in one place, it just means you don't have to feel like you need to color all the way into the binding. (The images DO run all the way to the binding.) I'll probably end up taking the pages out and putting them in page protectors inside a binder so they're easy to color but still kept together.

WAY TOO CUTE TO NOT GET!!!
This is just the cutest dang book ever! Ok, maybe not "EVER" but it ranks up there. These pictures are adorable! You get a pretty large variety of different animals and scenes to choose from. These pages ARE perforated! Yay! So you can easily remove any picture you want to color or share with someone else. Or if you want to frame it when you've finished it. The paper is a great thickness and I didn't experience bleed through but I used gel pens on the one I've colored so far. If I use my Prismacolor or Copic sketch markers, I might. So as usual, I recommend using extra paper underneath. I myself typically use card stock if I keep it in the book. If I take it out, I use a clipboard or the back of an old dry erase board I have that is small enough to go on the fridge but a little bigger than the color sheets I use. That way, no paper is wasted. I REALLY recommend this book to any coloring book fan that loves animals and likes them "Cute". This is just plan adorable. Even my 9 year old could barely stand the bunnies, haha. He loved it. I got this at a discount price for my honest and unbiased review and I was so glad I did! I would DEFINITELY order this at full price if I hadn't gotten it for a discount. And I just might order another one when I'm finished with this so I can still have these adorable pictures. :D I hope my review helps you. I rely big time on reviews before I buy things so I try to be as honest as possible. If there are ANY question, just comment below and I'll get an email telling me I have a comment/question. If this was helpful, please click the helpful button below too to vote. If not, tell me what I could do to make it more helpful. I'd like to be here to help everyone decide what to get and what to stay away from. Happy Coloring!!!

Super cute colouring book packed with lovely designs
Color Super Cute Animals by Jane Maday has a glossy paperback cover with a coloured picture of one of the fox designs within the book. It is both glue and staple bound. The paper is smooth, white and of a good medium weight. The illustrations are on one side of the paper so you can easily use markers in this book (just place a protective piece of paper behind the picture you are working on). The pages of the book are perforated for easy removal. There are no double-page spreads in this book, however there are some pictures where the design extends into the spine and over the perforated lines, but it does not affect the pictures adversely. The line-work pictures are of a medium thickness of black line and in some parts is a bit heavier; however I found that I liked this in the book and I actually liked the slight stained-glass effect of the pictures. It went well with the type of designs and it also means that this will be easy to see even for those whose eyesight is not as good as others. As you colour the lines will balance out and it will not detract from the picture, so this will probably not bother anyone too much. Not only does it have over 50 lovely illustrations to colour, none of which are overly complex or too simple meaning this book is suitable for beginners or advanced colourists alike. It is also ideal as a gift book or perfect to encourage a beginner as at the front of the book there is a full colour page illustrations of one of the illustrations coloured in to inspire you (rabbit), a contents page and 10 page illustrated introduction to colouring techniques which covers colour basics, colour palettes, adding doodles and details, shading and blending with coloured pencils, shading and blending with water-based markers, using watercolour markers like paint and colouring with alcohol based markers. This guide is very simple to follow and well illustrated. Although as an advanced colourist I didn’t need this it was still handy to have a reminder of techniques and there are plenty of lovely illustrations to satisfy my needs. The illustrations themselves are beautiful crisp, clean and clear line-work drawings of animals, leaves and flowers. The designs are stylised with animals and flowers that are patternistic and pretty in form. The animals are indeed ‘super cute’ and there is everything from rabbits, mice, a hedgehog and bear, to fish, an elephant, a turtle, a peacock and birds. They are beautifully drawn as are the flowers, leaves and other background details. None are overly detailed and will comfortably suit all levels of colouring ability. It is a lovely book and with so many illustrations to colour as well as the added bonus of the colouring guide it is good value for money and I highly recommend it.
