In June 1950, North Korean forces invaded U.S. ally South Korea. A decision for a U.S. military response led to a mad scramble for deployable forces. Among these would be the 1st Marine Division, hastily reconstituted with active and reserved personnel. One Marine brigade would help save the Pusan perimeter.
