Strong acid. Violent reaction with zinc.
I've used another brand "acid cleaner" for years to remove hard water mineral deposits. I thought I'd try some muriatic acid for a change hoping for more aggressive removal. I use small copper/zinc anodes in our toilet tanks to release copper ions into the flush water and eliminate or reduce formation of mold ring at the water line in the bowl. This works well but the anodes occasionally need to be renewed by removing mineral deposits on them. So I dipped one of my anodes into some muriatic and WOW, the zinc portion aggressivly bubbled, steamed and heated up. Quite a scary reaction. Glad I was wearing chemical safety goggles. I should have read-up on this ahead of time to see how muriatic acid (30% hydrochloric acid) would react. It did clean the zinc and copper but the chemical reaction was more violent than expected and released a strong, caustic gas. Lesson learned - keep your zinc items far away from this acid and always, always wear safety gear.

Very concentrated Muriatic Acid
This was way way way too concentrated for what I needed but if you need very very very concentrated muriatic acid (Hydrochloric Acid) this is the one. Use only out doors and wear a chemical mask and heavy chemical gloves. This product will take off the worst toilet ring but it will destroy stainless steel sinks and any kind of metal faucet.

Excellent quality, Nice and Pure
I needed to clean the frit of my Buchner filter and after researching decided on muriatic acid, as recommended.. This acid is of good quality and cleaned the minerals out nicely.. It is also not too strong to easily neutralize when the process was complete. Thank you very much,
