Q: can you use this as a walk/run backwards pull sled?

Yes. We have three of these and love them. I would caution that they work best when used on grass, artificial turf fields, or Mondo-brand tracks. We've had to wrap them with a quality electrical tape because they got used on an outdoor track that was too rough for the bag. We also changed the belt and connected a harness to the sled bag.

I understand your question and agree, but will also note that for the cost this is a good piece of equipment. We have three of them for our club and have really appreciated the quality.
