Cat6 Crossover Adapter

Seems like most crossover cables are either short or crazy-expensive. This little crossover adapter lets you use a standard Ethernet cable of any usable length as a crossover. In my case, I was able to position a WiFi access point atop a bookshelf and well away from other electronic equipment. Couldn't have done that with the standard 3-foot crossover cables that usually ship with Ethernet modems and switches. Worked perfectly, well-constructed, and I would definitely buy again if I needed one.

Tried plugging the small end into the phone slot in my wall, didn't work at all, same with my router. Fit into my TV perfect and my cat cable perfect, but I didn't need that to fit there, needed it to in the wall. Now I have a useless connecter and I need to buy another cord or a whole new different brand/smaller connecter just to get it to fit. Wow.

I've been bitten in the past about not having long enough cross over cables in stock.One day I was out of the office and my boss needed a long patch cable. This is a great crossover if you really need it, but most consumer network equipment these days can automatically cross over for you, and there is no need for this item at all. Be sure you actually need it.

I only used this once to transfer files from old dying PC to new PC and it worked like a charm. I got this instead of a dedicated cable because it's small and I have plenty of Cat6 cable-- I didn't want to buy a cable I would use a handful of times cluttering up the place.

This adapter needs to be flipped 180 degrees to allow laptops to sit flat and not have their weight supported by this adapter connected to the RJ45 port, possibly putting too much pressure on it and breaking it.Also, this adapter is not necessary for newer Operating systems and hardware, which can connect two computers using a regular ether cable, not requiring a crossover cable.

The Cat6 crossover adapter may not be the most fantastic tool in your "network kit," but when you need it...well, it's marvelous.Why does anyone need a crossover adapter, or for that matter, a crossover cable. Because the standard RJ-45 plug and cable have several standards of wiring, and format of communication between a computer and network enabled device.I bounce between situations that often need a crossover cable. Which meant that I had to carry two user cords, also known as network cables, to work sites. I needed at least 10 meters (about 32 feet) of cable. Big pain.With the crossover adapter, I only need one cable...nirvana.The quality of Cables Unlimited Cat6 Adapter is solid and sturdy; very high quality. Which means it won't break for a long time. I bought four of them because I knew three would get snatched from me at work. That's exactly what happened.Yes, I do recommend this little solver of big problems.
