what does the label mean when it says "for fireplace inserts' ?

A Fireplace Insert is a stove that fits inside the fireplace. The chimney is routed up through the original fireplace chimney. Since it is enclosed much more heat goes into the living area. The blower option greatly increases the heat blown into the living area.

can I avoid chimney cleaning if i use this Have stainless 2 story pipe havent cleaned for 2 years

Sorry, but it still needs to be cleaned, it isn't to be used in place of cleaning it just greatly reduces the amount of creosote that builds up to reduce the amount of cleaning needed. I only do mine once a year now. Most of the creosote is at the top of the chimney above the roof line, I'm 2 stories also. I was doing it every month and getting a good amount of creosote, I don't burn really hot my house is very well insulated. Then I started using this product, one scoop a day, and the difference was amazing. I get less after the whole burning season then I use to get every month. The cleaning is much easier and for the piece of mind and safety of my animals it is worth the 1/2 hour it takes to clean it.

Is this product safe to use on stoves with a catalyst?

In my experience, yes! It was perfectly fine during the burn season. When I cleaned my catalyst late this spring after burn season, the creosote was not much on it than before surprisingly.

Is it effective on 3rd stage creosote?

Yes it is. It will not completely clean a chimney that has 3rd stage creosote, but it will loosen it up so it will be easier to remove with a brush. Really, this is great stuff.
