Help With Sleep Better Than Anything Else I've Tried
I have tried so many things to help with not waking up in the middle of the night. These worked! 3-4 before bed and I sleep 7 hours straight as opposed to my normal waking up after 4 hours. AND I wake up feeling like I slept hard. Not like I just drugged myself to go to sleep like I feel with some sleep aids like melatonin and others. I had heard glycine helps with sleep among other things. So glad I gave these a try. They are saving my health and my mood. I have so much more energy the next day with a good night's sleep.

In the battle for a good night's sleep, this is a winner!
This is working really well for me. I'm taking 2 or 3 at bedtime along with a capsule of GABA, also the Now brand, and in the last couple of weeks I've often slept 7 hours straight through, which has been extremely difficult to do for several years. If I do wake up after 5-6 hours and want to sleep longer, I've been able to go right back to sleep. A sleep mask is essential since my room can't be darkened, and I often switch on my white noise machine, set to ocean waves, and I'm out in just a few minutes. I've tried other things that have helped, both herbs and supplements, but I keep trying new things to see what they'll do for me. Since glycine is just an amino acid, it seems very safe to me. The price is right, too! If you're interested in other things to try, here's what has helped in the past (some I currently use or may use again): > Magnesium (Essential for hundreds of processes in your body, most of us are deficient, and it's very helpful for relaxing at bedtime--I've used it for years. The "Got Mag" website recommends 5x your bodyweight in milligrams daily, and also gives advice for the types most helpful and easily absorbed.) > Vitamin D3 plus K2 for absorption (I take 5,000-10,000 IU of D3 per day, in the morning to mimic sunlight. Be careful--it can keep you up if you take it too late in the day.) > Lavender oil (dab some on your wrists and put your hands near your face) > Valerian, or a valerian/hops/chamomile combo > Some homeopathic formulas have been helpful in the past, but they don't seem to do much now > 5-HTP > Tryptophan > GABA > Melatonin (Can be tricky--used to work great, but now seems to have the opposite effect on me if I use it for several days in a row. Some of the products above are precursors to melanonin and I've read that your body converts them to as much as you need--so maybe that's why they work better for me.) > A spoonful of honey before bed (Google it...I still do this most nights) > The adrenal cocktail (Google it...it worked for a while, but my cortisol tends to be too high and I think it works better for those with low cortisol) Since my window shades let in too much street light, I always use a sleep mask, turn the thermostat down to stay cool, and am trying to restrict use of electronics before bed (screens send a blast of blue light into your eyes/brain). I have f.lux (a free program installed on my PC) and that helps, but really you're supposed to avoid all electronics or bright lights for at least an hour before bed. Some wear blue-blocking glasses in the evening. Other things that would help, but which I usually can't do, are getting sunshine, a bit of exercise, and barefoot walking in the early part of the day. Going to bed the moment you get sleepy is very important, but I'm still working on this. If I push through that initial sleepiness because it's "too early," as I too often do, I get a "second wind" (which I now know is a surge of cortisol) and then it may be hours before I get sleepy again. Then I also wake up too early, and it's a vicious cycle. This is all related to stressed adrenal glands/poor adrenal function, and you can learn more by reading Dr. Wilson's book http://www.amazon.com/Adrenal-Fatigue-Century-Stress-Syndrome/dp/1890572152/ or Dr. Christianson's book http://www.amazon.com/Adrenal-Reset-Diet-Strategically-Proteins/dp/0804140537/ or just searching online for information. Promotes better sleep quality.
I am very skeptical when it comes to supplements, and usually it takes a while to see/feel the results. My husband started taking those and I decided to try as it promotes better sleep and I wasn’t able to sleep through the night anymore. I would wake up without an apparent reason and take a while to fall back asleep. On my very first try (took it one time) I already felt like I had a deeper sleep and was well rested the next day. The only downside was that it recommends taking 3 capsules, which is what I take every night. I wish I could only take one as I have a hard time swallowing pills. It’s not drowsy, so it won’t help you to fall asleep but once you do fall asleep it helps you keep asleep.

Game Changer, especially for Menopause Women
This has been a game changer for me for sleeping throughout the night as someone going through menopause. This works much better than magnesium glycinate, in my opinion. I wake up refreshed. It has also helped decrease stress/irritability and I have noticed an improvement in my overall well-being.

Monster-sized, but Definitely Helps with Sleep
Big fan of NOW brand—specifically because they are the only brand I trust buying online anywhere. They have a proprietary cap design (I think) that definitely helps with the trust factor. Hard to fake. Bought this to help with a crippling insomnia issue going on for at least half a decade. Perimenopause is an angry B. So am I, without sleep—especially when I miss work. Finally decided to try the very last thing suggested to me, and it has definitely helped! Has it solved my issue? —-NOPE. But this is absolutely necessary in my arsenal now. I don’t dare do without it, so I keep it in stock always. All those people swearing by it are seriously on to something. Listen to them. Try it. Tried to get it cheaper here with another brand, in a larger quantity (good reviews and all), and I ended up losing even more time from work. Orange and white label. Never again. This one works, every single time. Every bottle. I can’t believe I am talking about this, but it needs to be said. Never once cared about the size of any pill, and I have quite frankly rolled my eyes at the MANY, MANY reviews containing that information here. I would like to apologize for that. I officially understand you. These are enormous. Never felt insecure about swallowing anything really, until I started taking these pills. Way too long AND girthy. Honestly, I feel like I should be getting paid to take these, not the other way around. And I am given to consuming a whole compartment of pills at once. Not one or two, but gobs. One of these actually scares me. So I have no choice but to take it one at a time, with some trepidation. Still worth it. It is helping me to stay asleep. But good to know ahead of time for anyone even remotely sensitive to pill size. I mean this one is a bit taxing. For real.

Effective sleep aid but stomach issues
This is an effective sleeping aid, but causes diarrhea and stomach cramps for me. Don't know if this is because of glycine itself or other ingredients in the supplement.

It does what it supposed to do. But please take it before bed otherwise day time dose makes you feel light and sleepy. The price is a concern, but quality is superb!

I take the recommended 3 capsules a night and have more restful sleep. When I take less I notice that my sleep is less restful. It does seem to make a clear difference in the quality of rest and recovery I get when I sleep.
