The sun beats right in as soon as it starts to come up, wakes you up and instantly starts heating up the inside of the camper. I found the camco sunshield vent insulator and this was perfect. This fit perfectly. This vent shield blocked the sun in the morning and kept it from making it way to hot in the camper. I think this would also work great for colder weather to help keep the heat in. This is a foam like pillow so I would recommend not getting it wet. It has silver insulation on one side and like sheep fur everywhere else. This looked exactly like the picture. There are Velcro tabs but this fit so snug and perfect we did not need to use the Velcro tabs. This worked great for me and is half the price of the retractable shades I looked at. I like that I can take this out and open the vent and let the sun in or leave it in and keep it darker. It is so easy to remove and install and will not damage it. I have been satisfied with every camco product I have ordered thus far. They are defiantly my go to for camper supplies. Review: Vent insulator that works - Does exactly what it says it does. The area is longer then the standard 14"** A: I just got the 14 x 14 cushion for the vent, but tried it for the skylight in the shower and used the shower's blackout shade to close the gap. In less than 2 minutes the top of the cushion was HOT and I could feel significant heat coming through the blackout shade. The cushion made an instant difference. Tomorrow I'm going to hunt down foam like Shiela did to close off the skylight. They are white and fuzzy on the side that faces in, so they blend in well with white or mostly white ceilings. They aren't noticeable. The main thing is the insulation. I tried one out in the RV bathroom, which is the coldest room in our RV. I was amazed and what a difference it made during cold weather and bought another one to use in the main bedroom. It does mean you lose sunlight, but, in our bathroom, there is a skylight that allows plenty of natural light and, in our bedroom, we don't really care. It blocks out overhead lights that shine into the RV at night, which is a blessing. We kept one skylight uncovered in the kitchen, both for additional light and for easy access for cooking smoke. We just sealed over that with plastic seal, which is easy to remove if you need to pump some smoke out.
