I'm confused, because I've read to take that much but am not sure if 3 caps is only 144mg.** A: The 2000 mg amount refers to the total amount of Magtein (magnesium threonate) which is recommended on a daily basis. That dose is divided into 3 capsules. Magtein is NOT 100% magnesium. In fact, Magtein contains only about 7% magnesium. The rest of the molecule is threonate plus an attached water molecule (hydrate). Because of that, the 2,000 mg of Magtein only provides 2000 x 0.07 = 140 mg of elemental magnesium. On a per capsule basis that would be 140/3 = 46.6 mg of magnesium. Hope that helps to clarify. **Q: does it have a gluten?** A: Unless you have a very specific and rare condition called celiac disease, you don't need to avoid gluten. **Q: what is this product good for?** A: My physical therapist first recommended MagMind to help reduce the cramps in my legs during PT, but both my husband and I have found it invaluable for helping us to sleep more soundly.
