The directions are not straight forward and require a bit of extra research. Once installed it works great, installation was just confusing.

Instructions are very general as the product can be used in various applications. Two improvements I would make:1) Provide cables for common applications. Since some applications cases would not need these wires maybe a specific packages for common applications.2) Make picking cables easy. Include a AWG chart for Americans. 21.1 mm sq = 4 AWG 33.6 mm sq = 2 AWG 53.5 mm sq = 1/0 AWGAlso note: connector posts are 5/16For my simple setup. 1 X 12v starter battery, 1 X 12v House battery. With both batteries under the hood in the same location, I purchased the following:2 X Red 2 Foot 2 AWG Battery Cable by Spartan Power, Positive Only - I think 4 AWG would suffice but upgraded for the same price, plus the documentation says to go with 2 AWG under 1.5 meters1 X InstallGear 4 Gauge AWG Tinned Pure Copper Lugs Ring Terminals Connectors with Heat Shrink - 10-Pack - This is for separating all the existing wiring under the hood (4 AWG and 8 AWG). it is supposed to have a path through it if there is a failure. this would allow you to limp home with whatever was coming from the alternator not great but better that nothing. Well mine failed completely with no sign of a default .zi agree with the others that the instruction sheet was obviously written by the designers/engineers for themselves not for the average user.

I've had this in service now for 12 months and about 600 engine hours. It works well even with other chargers (solar and shore power) connected. The order fulfillment was better than promised, that it arrived early by an alternate method and my expedited shipping charges were refunded. Compared to other products the price is about half. The installation is easier than any other products on the market because the alternator did not have to be modified by a shop as is necessary for other brands. Unfortunately, the documentation is absolutely terrible. This is a top shelf product that needs an engineer to spend a week with a tech writer to give it a top quality documentation package.
