First time on CD is the original movie sound track to the 1955 released "Cinerama Holiday" re-mixed from the movie audio tapes combined with music from the studio recording issued on the LP, making this Morton Gould score release as complete as possible for sound track buffs.

Two Thrilling Albums in One
CINERAMA was a motion picture technology unlike any before or since, and the movies produced with the 3-camera / 3-projector process were travelogues that quite literally took us to place on our planet that we would not likely ever see otherwise. CINERAMA HOLIDAY, the second of the features produced with host Lowell Thomas, was especially thrilling because of the lively musical score by Morton Gould, one of America's greatest and most versatile composers. The music is fun and thrilling, upbeat and lush, varied and engaging. This CD not only includes the original LP of themes from the movie, but actually recording session takes directly from the orchestra soundstage. Absolutely wonderful!

Fun music, but why the slates and studio chatter?
I've enjoyed all these Cinema soundtrack releases but I can't imagine why they left in all the audio slates and studio chatter between every take in this one? Does anyone find this enhances the music at all? I've got a handful of CDs that include the odd bit of banter between the podium and the booth or applause from the musicians but this is the only one that calls out the title and take number before and the call to cut the take after EVERY piece of music. The calls to 'cut' seem a bit close to the end of the music, almost as though someone took the trouble to edit out all the pauses that are customarily left in to ensure clean outs which suggests that someone went to a fair bit of trouble to make it like this. Very weird. Did the lawyers make them do this? I've been meaning to cut all that out and see if that makes as much of a positive difference to me as I think it will.

with so many brilliant themes, especially for the Paris segment (OK
Although labeled as Stereo, the original recording session for the soundtrack is infortunately in flat mono, which is not flaterring to the marvelous Morton GOULD score, with so many brilliant themes, especially for the Paris segment (OK, that's where I live, so I am being a bit partial !) However, the sound is much better when it comes to the Mercury LP tracks, which are in full Stereo......

Why did this issue not use the original 7 track ...
Why did this issue not use the original 7 track stereo soundtrack? If the blue ray/dvd issues have the original soundtrack why not on the CD issue? The sound is simulated mono. Still an interesting document
